is it possible to get get it here in jb? what are the price.. this one u gotta ask someone else</font id=“purple”>

ok guys sifu of all rods builder. there a lot of spec n brand for one rods… so know let me start for the lightweight casting and spinning blank that affordable here in Malaysia..
-local blanks can be difficult to obtain in certain class/poundages. some readily available ones are from Ajiking, Xzoga, Expert graphite, Lemax barbarian, and a few from rod ford i think… specifications usually medium to heavy. price wise varies from rm60 to rm200 i think. kepong has some g.loomis blanks, and digitl at puchong has a few MHX rods…lightweight casting, how lightweight and what length? one-piece or 2-piece? you must know what you want before you can find it!</font id=“purple”>

ok please introduce to all forum-er here what are the spec that worth it to buy and rebuild…coz a lots of brand coming on the way know..then step by step to saltwater fishing. show us the newbies like me the way to pick up the rods…
what may be good for me may not be what ur looking for, so again, what characteristics are you looking for?</font id=“purple”>

im fully understand what are all the builder try to tell.. but what i really want to knows know how to pick it up
how to choose the right blank? by making a few wrong decisions early. then you will know what you want. i mean, there has to be something wrong with your current rod that makes you want to look for another, right? there has to be some rod out there that you really like but then something is preventing you from buying it, right? what are they?</font id=“purple”>

i think you are still unsure what you are looking for. be more specific. a custom made rod is a specific rod tailored to what you want.

Ask local jb tackleshops for the blanks and see. Give uncle Thomas a visit and see what he’s got to offer you. I bought a few blanks from him a few yrs ago while I was in jb.

I am not sure if rod ford/mgfa carries this 6lb blank that you are looking for or not. So u have to ask around.

For more established(exensive) brands like SC, MHX, etc please visit mudhole.com and matagi.jp to get a rough idea. If not mistaken, local importer n distributor of SC is TCE Tackles, but not too sure if they can help u get ur blanks.

If ur in KL, do check out kepong for some blanks. And if ur interested in North Fork Composites(by Gary Loomis), u can check them out at sabre tackle in jalan maharajalela in kl. They may have a what ur looking for with a wide variety of rod building components.

I sometimes buy from matagi.jp and mudhole for some harder to get items.

So, good luck!

Do not forget the shipping cost
and over sized parcel charges if you
buy online. You may fine one about
USD20.00, but add in the extra charges,
you end up paying more than RM100.00

Dear uncle Thomas, I think I need to restock some blanks from you. I ran out of those I got a few yrs ago. Great general purpose blanks, I have to attest to that! I think it’s number 51… Or was it 27?

New Angler On The Line.. fish for life.. Rods building is an art!

Dear brothers. Need some advise here.

Recently I got itchy hands & did some bending tests on my rods. I took my RM 85, Pro-Tech Titanium IM7 Spin 6’ rod, hold the 20lb line & pull it till there was a nice U-bend. OK! It gained my confidence! Then I took out my RM 205, Major Craft Basspara 662MH casting rod by just holding the 20lb line & bend it. It SNAPPED! I took the rod to repair, RM 13 only but I didn’t like the workmanship. Although the rod still feels the same & cast marvelously long distance, in fact, it felt like it cast even further than before, perhaps due to the joining thus making the rod tip even stiffer, as in, from ‘fast’ action become ‘extra fast’. Anyway, I felt that it had been ‘compromised’.

My question:

Keeping the rod
(1) Should I continue using the rod? Would there be any compromise in terms of fish fighting qualities or durability issues?

Replace rod
(2) I mainly do land-based Haruan/Toman fishing. The places I go is rough & I get snagged frequently in thick weeds. I’m a bit rough & tend to abuse my rod & reels. I’m most comfortable with a 6’ rod. Since land based, casting distance is a priority & so I need action that is fast or Extra fast. Land based fishing involves plenty of walking, trekking so I need a light weight rod. My preferred choice of lures are Soft plastics, tiny spinners & frogs.

Any recommendations for Baitcasting rod?

bro Hennesyooi,

trying to visualise it …
a) rod snapped near tip?
b) snapped portion rejoined or put on new tip?
just concerned that the repaired joint might give way one day

mmm, for rough and tough … i think mebbe the uglystiks might serve better or multi piece rods - i could be wrong
wondering if prolonged torsional torque on rod tip contributed to the breakage

so far, only my rm40 relix (4’) has bent almost ‘u’ when wifey took 2 pacus
once in a while itchy, ask wifey to help pull tip down while i hold rod at 45 degrees … so far so good

acheong,

I had the upper piece of rod rejoined, the breakage is not exactly at the tip but about 20" away. Funny how this rod bend, the tip area (tip till 20") bend while the mid-section doesn’t. Something like how the rod ratings describe as fast or extra fast action.

buy a new rod… [:D]

I’d have to agree with fisher. Get a new rod. A broken and rejoined rod is a catastrophe waiting to happen. Don’t risk it.

As per your original question, suddenly the Old version fenwick HMX and HMG pops up in my head. If u can find them at offer price, do give them a try.

bros fisher and FT confirms my suspicions as stated earlier … just worried the joint might give way when you least expect or worse, when you need its integrity most

you might wanna check this out if you’re not overly concerned it has to be new:
