Today I brought Juan to Bungsamrun. This is his first time there and also first time fighting a mekong catfish. Yesterday , we went to Boon Ma for barramundi light tackle fishing, today we shall do some serious heavy duty fishing at BSR.
I suggested to him to use 2 rods instead of one. 1 rod for mekong and the other we shall try to aim for the Siamese carp or willy mekong (the giant mekong that above 40kg)
The morning bite rate was abit slow so I changed the rig to float rig for the 2nd rod.
The actions in the afternoon was much better. It was like non stop actions. Many a time, he has to fight 2 mekongs at the same time. :lol:
When he has enough of fishing the mekong, we took out the floater and changed the rig back to aim back the Siamese carp or the big willy mekong. Our efforts paid off. At ablout 8.00pm, Juan landed his first ever giant mekong, tip scale at 57kg giant mekong. What a night !!! I think he will not forget this day for a long time.
