Like Takin said to me “we were trolling blind” whereas others with prior knowledge of lubuk were able to catch the bb repeatedly and the weakness was that boatman did not know of any good lubuk..so no local knowledge to depend on. I cant speak for Lannun but I was a real greenhorn here. Even our LKG friends (first time here too) caught their bb on the last day that was after they spied another boat (not LKG) catching bb from a certain lubuk. But it was a good experience for me..suprised myself that I could survive the 6-7 hours boat ride one way and staying on a boat for a week or so. I expect the worse but I survived without any sickness or mishaps…Alhamdullilahhh…If you ask me whether I will go again?..perhaps, can I afford it?..and most of all health permitiing?
Just to add: The organizing was good, food excellent, hotel accomodatiopn at Sandakan not 3 or 4 stars but reasonably good. Boatman very good service, service by boatcrew (motherboat) nothing to complain and the weather was kind to us too.

We all thought the boatmen would be the calibre of Trong’s Nasir, who can locate fish and fish holding structure based on experience not to mention local knowledge, under any tidal conditions. A kaki who was there before landed 7 fish from a single snag on the last day of our trip!
We found out that the boatmen were fishermen who had good boat handling and engine maintenance skills (their engines were in superb condition from their sounds) but were not familiar with casting and trolling for bb for anglers. So in effect they were relying on the anglers to tell them where to go and what to do.
Apart from that, organisational-wise, everything else was A-OK.
I want to make a suggestion.
All those of you who always shout mangkor mangkor mebe you guys shud get togethet and orkuinize an extended mangkorian trip solely amongst yourselves and cumm back with a lengthy report for all of us to read and assess. Lets see if you all can tahan the ordeal or even get the licence to go in the first place. And please oso try to save your own lives along the way. [:p]
