Hi guys, i think most of u would’ve seen or heard about these new rods from Abu Garcia.
Before their arrival, quite a number of MFNers were talking about them. But now that it’s out, haven’t heard much from u guys about them.
Just wanted to start a topic here so we can talk about this new line up of rods from Abu.
I saw these rods earlier today at a tackle shop in PJ.
About the Vendetta… Have to say that some of the components probably add value to it. But there’s still something about the rod that i feel is missing. Dunno what it is. I just didn’t get the kinda ‘vibe’ i expected myself to when holding it.
The guides are something new, although not necessarily appealing to everybody. They looked kinda out of place for me.
I guess it’ll probably be worth the money if u had some to spare, but i wasn’t as impressed as i had hoped to be.
Anyway, just my personal take… And i haven’t been able to take the rod for a test run. What do u guys think?
And the Vengeance… A basic stick with a simple, straight forward design. Looks like another workhorse with a little less refinement than the Vendetta. But for the price point, a worthy consideration for any angler on a lower-mid-range budget.
haven’t had a chance to touch or hold either yet but from what im reading so far a lot of people are finding the vendetta to be a bit of a disappointment… not too many comments on the vengeance yet… if what everyone is saying is true then its a real pity… cos they sure did look good in the adverts…
Have a look at the Abu Garcia Veritas also. Even though they talked about a September 2010 launch, they appear to be available from the mail order people like Cabellas already. ( USD $ 99.90 )
yeah, seen the veritas online before. looks like it’s set to be a class higher than the vendetta.
it’s priced slightly above the vendetta also.
but i heard it’s still being worked upon… as in some components are not finalized.
anyway, we’ll see when the time comes. hope pure fishing will bring in some for our consideration too.
What so good about having the split grip? I check on the Vengence and Vendetta today. Seems pretty good to me. But i still feel they are a little bit more heavy.
i’ve always surfed the web and looked at pictures of the Vendetta, especially on Tackle Warehouse. And imagined that Malaysia would have the same design as well - with splitgrip.
When the Vendetta finally arrived on Malaysian soil, the aesthetics were different from the pictures i’ve seen on the web. Which in turn, put a pin to my dream bubble.
I know you might have much lighter rods, but i think the weight of the Vendetta is okay. Not light and not heavy.

its OK if vendetta is not split grip, but the design is horrible with 2 red ring incorporated in the handle design, for me its just odd and not that very professional look. if they removed the 2 red ring, then the rod will be perfect for mid range price rod. if you want to redesign the handle, you will not get the 3 small hole at the back of the handle, that’s a trademark for Abu’s high quality rod like the Yabai.. the hole is difficult to make if you dont have the appropriate tool to redesign it back…

always have a well balanced setup
means that you’re having a good control
of leverage and power to crank in the fish
that’s why you see the bass anglers always
crank in like mad especially in tourneys…
but if you want hell of a fight a well balanced lighter set up will
work you wonders and the impact will etched for a long time…
" that’s why when you play hard you need harder equipment…more robust…heheh "
There is a lot of truth in what has been said … but be careful depending on which tackle shop owner you talk to.
Most of them will recommend you a tough rod that will be strong enough to pull a cow up a tree - but with the sensitivity and finesse of a telephone pole.
Like many other hobbies, ours is also one of compromises - identify what you want to target, and then spend your hard earned money on equipment that will maximize your enjoyment.
If Phil of Pure Fishing is listening - I AM STILL WAITING FOR YOUR ABU VERITAS. [:p][:p][:p]
for vendetta…it’s stiffer than vengeance…
more or so the rod will do or suffer what we intend…
if you believe me…a tekong in kenyir(lake remind you)use 10lb and
6lb line to land a 2kg sebarau…with SKILLS…
he even suggest a ‘forgiving’ rod not to tear the mouth…
here where vengeance come into the picture..
but remember it was all up to you…you consider, you choose and…
you buy…enjoy what you have and learn how to use is more wothwhile
than craving for something you shouldn’t…
the grass is always greener on the other side…
you can’t be a jack of all trades..don’t be…
you must stick to sumthin’ you believe…
so you won’t end up as a master of none…
