Ken - about RM260+ ( Veritas ) and RM330+ ( Verdict ) depending on size.

Compare the prices with the mail order people in the US of A. - you better get down to the shops real quick. [:p][:p][:p]

saw the veritas (10-20lb) at ocean sea coupla days back … on the lighter side … just wish it wasn’t that … thick …
tested it at the anglers’ expo few months back … strong

would lurve to try my hands at the verdict … luuuurve that retractable handle …

Ken - yes, I am now the owner of one of each … and I have now have sufficient rods to pass on to my next 2 generations.( maybe 3, if I am careful with them )[:D]

RK - I was only giving price points as a comparison with the US prices - like always, look around and negotiate a bit. That is half the fun ya ? [:p]

… nearly forgot. AC have you used a caliper to measure the diameter ?

I also thought that the Veritas blank was thicker originally, but my 8 - 14 measures favorably with my St. Croix Premier 6 - 12. I think that it is the white that gives us an optical illusion of thickness.

Dont know what the fuss are all about…first and foremost…why are there even some posters on products here?..sould we considered those advertorial?..mayybe not to some…they would would considered them as info…but…dont you think that should be in another tread…after memebers have treid them and comment???Did those memebers here so sure about them products dare even to vouch for them even without field testing them in our testy eniourment?

i think the SC2 graphite of st croix are much thicker than many other rods la… tat’s why the diameter… it’s not fair to compare with stcroix rod for actual measurement but Abu of the same league or comparison. i think they both have bout the same diameter la, afterall they all roll them at the same place ma haha, but material different la

dunno much i din bother to look at their diameter. just bought them cos i’m in dire need for a heavier action rod

Getting the rod today really is such hardwork n a pain in the rear

The info i got from purefishing international website is totally unreliable and definite waste of time as far as malaysian market is concerned. So to all internet users, unless u wan to just roughly know what’s new in the market(not in m’sia btw, especially for rods), dont even bother to find info there because it’s useless, period. From the spec right down to even it’s design is basically world apart. Try to check in purefishing malaysia the poster of verdict and veritas are there, but no specs. Early bird get the cr@p i guess

Then i try to get one of those i want, in fact what i want is a Verdict 6foot6inches, 8-17lb and 2 pcs version of the rod, which is nothing wrong, i found a lot of spinning version in this spec in shop before the casting model were available so i assume it’s available as i quite like the action of it. And if all else fail, the website(Abu Garcia, Purefishing) states the model too! And there’s also no such thing as a 6footer, 8-17lb version available, check list:http://www.abugarcia.com/products/rods/verdict

I texted Phil of purefishing to get info and viewing of the one tat i want straight from the factory first before getting any purchase and he told me will have to see what they had first… so fair enough this morning i was there and the spec is no where to be found. Wat was left are those 12-20lb and 12-25lb version. I was told tat the lighter models have all been delivered to retail outlet… man so close yet so far, heartache, but not broken… so i left n thanks everyone in PF for their help

Unrelented, i texted Paul of Young Trading and call up Ah Boy of ocean sea to look out for the rod of that spec.

Since Ocean sea is much closer to my place i decided to call Ah Boy first. And was surprise he have the spec tat i want, as 2 days earlier when i was there, the verdict already there, but none are baitcasting models. But after being assured tat’s what i want… i probably spend more money on this call than for the calls of past few months, not even my gf have such long call to comfirm and recomfirm if it was the Verdict i want! And so i was off to ocean sea, almost an hour drive from PF to Seri Kembangan, only to discover it was a false alarm. And Ah Boy even proudly declare it’s what i want, a ‘silver coloured’ Veritas was being kept for me, ‘how glad i was!!!’, it’s not even wat i’ve been talking about… there goes my $$$(fuel, toll, energy, phone bill and what not on n on)

So last choice… texted Paul while having a frustrating lunch. And viola, Young Trading have it! And so, hope up again… then drive all the way back to bkt jalil, as my fuel is running low, and have not a single penny left if i were to get the rod. I just take the LRT to Pudu and walk to Young Trading altho i was dead tired. What humans really capable of doing just for tat hope, no matter how fake in reality it is!

So i was there, all tired and lucky me, Paul just walk back to his shop and so happily i cant wait to see the rod. Ends up, the stock is so new he din even checked let alone seen the rod yet, and there goes my hope… but this time, something magical appears… a Verdict of 6foot with 8-17lb spec, where the F%$# this spec came from??? which UFO send this shipment here i never even seen this spec on anywhere in the internet!!!

I do not fancy any rods less than 6foot3inch, but under such dire straits(i’m leaving to Penang on the 4th, fishing in penang anyone???, i do not have a 2pcs casting rod, i do not have more money for anything else some !d!ot just broke my Gloomis, i do not have anything heavier than 5-12lb casting model, i dont feel like losing more lures due to un-kiasu fishing methods, i have no rod to pair my reel with, etc) … so i just bought it, after having consoled myself profusely in my mind… and satisfy ownself by matching the reel balance.

After buying it… a bitter sweet feeling start to overcome me, it seems tat nobody in the industry actually know what they have for sale???.. the journey back is equally ardous… it’s been so long since i’m so happy just to see my car again(much like the feeling of ur excitement when u r first allowed to drive on ur own), after walking n standing for hours. I think i drove the equivalent amount of distance that could bring me to Air Ganda for a relaxing fishing trip liau

Somehow after got back home, the sight of my playground(Pond la wat else) makes me alive again… there’s nothing more motivating and feeling alive for an angler than to fish. After feeling dead tired still wanting to fish, to test rod, test lure, test water, test wind, wat? wind?

Well i leave the review on another day guys, it’s much too soon to determine fully on how i view the rod even as i’ve already have a crude idea of how it is liau… actually is because very tired lahhh, tat’s my whole day gone u know… disaster la. blablabla… ok la, i probably did not like it as much as i should’ve(more to do with it’s length), but i wouldnt sell it either, however will be very happy to exchange for a 6’6 version if those are coming in the future(overheard it so it’s coming). but full review tmr or sometime later la…
