Air Kuning Update II (New tarred road connection)

Lotsa fellas asking me exactly where the new tarred road is. I decided to put it up here for the benefit of the many.

This new info is irrelevant to anglers in Ipoh and Penang side, who will use the Tanjung Tualang way since that is closer. This new road is a boon for those coming from Klang Valley and generally the southern side of AK area.

The red line is the gross approximation of where the new road is. Using Temoh and Mambang Diawan as your guide, get on Google Earth and take a closer look.

The road isn’t fully completed. There were barricades, but orang asli, who cannot wait to use the road, have torn down the barricades and I guess JKR relented. (You should stop the car at one of the barricades and appreciate how they bent and twisted the metal barricade.) But the very end of the road is still blocked by a large mound of earth that I could not drive across even on a pickup truck. No matter. There is a right turn 500m before the end of the road that will reconnect you to the old dirt trail and you can use that. I guess the road will be fully available in time for the next general election with a grand ceremony and lots of ang pow for the orang asli on the official opening day.

If you are driving towards the new road junction from Mambang Di Awan and Temoh, you will need to do a u turn further down the main road to be able to access the new road. There is some road widening works going on there right now. You won’t be able to miss it.
