Never heard of it. What do they manufacture?
i’ve seen ajiking products in many tackle shops, n it’s getting more.
take a look at this…
Yes, I have also seen them in most shops - and they advertise quite heavily in all the magazines.
So far, have not yet met anybody using them - but from what I can see - it is only a matter of time. I wait.
Without Prejudice
Ajiking is a company registered by TCE Tackle Malaysia in Italy. Whether they are trying to camo the brand as “Made in Italy” or not leh, then you have to ask them lo but most of us will probably have our own opinion on this errrr…unusual??? practise lo.

I don’t think that our local Labeling requirements allow us to simply claim the country of manufacture - some irresponsible people bend this by trying to differentiate " Design ", " Assembly ", " Materials from .. ", etc. but they are being pedantic.
The whole point is the Design, and the Quality, and the care in manufacture ( QC ), compared to the price that you are paying. The test is in the eating, not the advertising.
I have 2 Fin Nors made in Bangla Desh … so what ? They perform superbly, and have done so for the past 8 years … and at the price I paid, I couldn’t even buy a mid range Fin Nor now !
As such, agree with wkl2020 - why go to all the bother if what you are making is good ?
wow…fin nor ka???..the rolls royce of reels la…errr…can c ka…can touch ka???..touch only 20 sec la…[:D][:D][:D]

so what’re your takes on trying out ajiking stuff?
or should boycott this kind of practice by not buying ![]()
" …touch only 20 sec la." - can touch for longer - these were bought from Peter when he was still in Fish Hunter Sg. Buloh ( long, long time ago ). Together, if I can remember, they cost me less than Rm500 lah.
" so what’re your takes on trying out ajiking stuff? " - on my part, I will wait for reports from others … which means that I am not going to run the risk of holding them to look at them [:D]
oh yeah…i remember peter of fish hunter…where the fella now ah? hope he’s doing ok…20 sec enough la[;)]…nanti kena the dreaded tackle bug again ma[xx(]…been using some super potent tackle bug repellent lately so dont wanna kena bite again[;)]…err…at least not at the present moment[^]…as for the ajiking take…well..as u hv said…wait for others to make reports[}:)]…so maybe nyamaoan [}:)] can b the white mice lo [:D][:D][:D]

haha. lab-test rat eh?
hmmm… coz the ajiking tournament queen low profile reel is not bad looking… feels ok la. i thinking of getting either that, or spend about 70 bucks more n get the abu garcia max series low profile one… probably the latest… bluemax.
still haven’t got reply on that thread (also here in this tackle review room)… should i spend a little more n get the abu one? please reply on the thread “need advice on baitcasting reels”.
thanks…
then maybe i can also decide after that, whether to be a a test rat ![]()
Peter? U mean peter of sabre tackle now?
Btw Ahab reels good ah? Look solid, but sheer weight
Novice angler here, any constructive advices greatly appreciated. Thank you
" Peter? U mean peter of sabre tackle now? " - Yes, one and the same - crew cut and all - but a bit younger in his Sg. Buloh days.
" Btw Ahab reels good ah? Look solid, but sheer weight " - No, not my two. They are the Fin Nor Estima series ( ES - 100 and ES - 300 ), and quite light and cheap - just over Rm 200 before a goodwill discount as I also whacked a few Fin Nor rods at the same time.
Yes, the Ahabs are built like a tank, but different series.
" Novice angler here, … " - you kid yourself friend. BTW it was nice meeting you in FV when you helped land my neighbours foul hooked Pla Buk that was running all over the pond. We should try to do it again. [:)]
Its good to support a local brand if the product is good. But marketing gimmicks should be put aside in my opinion (if there is any).

if not mistaken, it’s another ‘brand’ under TCE Tackles like X-puyu and Bakau etc.
if u think the product is worth the money they are charging, then go ahead and get it.
but remember to look around for similarly priced products by reknowned manufacturers before committing to the purchase, just for comparison of the quality of the product. if u feel the quality is OK for that price point, then by all means go ahead.
credibility of a brand is quite important to me.
by looking at the products, i find that they are targeting the weekend warriors and the newbies. some of the rods look really upmarket, but if priced like a St.Croix or a Fenwick, i’d rather stick to the better-known ones. The new Ajiking flyreels on the other hand are quite commendable and well built, but i still feel that they can do something about the price.
i would group this brand to be around the same league as Surecatch. i may be generalizing, but i think that is the direction they are going based on the quality and range of the products.

WAR: it’s not about who’s RIGHT, it’s about who’s LEFT
thanks for the input, everybody.
i think i might give it a shot. might go get their new low profile baitcaster soon.
What do u guys want me to test when i get the reel? after i buy it, i’ll take it out for a spin. hopefully sometime this coming week.
as wkl2020 said, maybe i’ll be a lab-test rat ![]()
hmmm… or maybe the i’ll skip it and try the abu max series low profiles… ok, still undecided for now…
just an opinion bro, if you don’t mind
regardless of brand or origin, many use and will continue to use, either by choice or necessity.
those of us who ain’t got deep pockets, we get what we can afford, even though we realise it’d be much better and possibly cheaper to get something close to the top once and for all, be done with it and go fish [:D]
consequently, many use ajiking, tomman, RM55 shimanos, etc etc etc with no less worse if not better results than the rest of us with relatively higher end gear.
case in point: me mates got fish with stick, branch, tied line and plywood float. i got nuthin’! [B)] [:I]
fwiw, ABU-G has low profiles going for less than RM200.
after so many words [:p], brings us back to:
a) stick with something reputable and proven, be it low, mid or high range, or
b) be guinea pig/lab rat
Option (b) has one of either consequence:
i) you smile as you land fish
ii) you cry/swear as it breaks or malfunctions in your hands
[:I]
i think being lab rat is slightly cheaper… hehe
i gotta find out more on the exact prices. but from what i can find online, it’ll be cheaper to be lab rat… and not neccesarily a waste…
