WAR: it’s not about who’s RIGHT, it’s about who’s LEFT
he… he… [:D] I used to have similar thoughts when it first came out almost half a decade ago. during then, the price was just slightly more than the purple Alphas. It would be great if I were to have the reel in my collection today. But performance wise and the level of refinement (apart from the tapered type-r magforce-V inductor) over stock Alphas do not stand out. you can still find 2nd hand ones on ebay and other online sellers most notably from Japan. but, they do not come cheap now. if there’s one low profile daiwa reel i’d like to get my hands on is the TD Ito (if i can afford it).

a few years later, managed to save up for a purple alphas. been thru thick n thin with me… until i was introduced to the R-edition…anyways i let go my purple one already last year… i love my R-edition so much, i only can afford to keep one. can’t practice polygamy. hahahah…
TD Ito is the colourful TD-Z rite? “fish with mindfulness, beware the dark side” hehehehehe…

Actually, you won’t be missing anything in terms of performance by not owning a Alphas ito. Back then (i was a student too) I had had to decide which to go for, the pixy or the Alphas ito. back then, the yellow pixy cost more than the Alphas Ai. I chose the pixy and never regretted it. Soon after, i got myself a purple alphas which i think is daiwa’s equivalent shimano scorpion. as you would have probably read on TT, the Ai somewhat disappoints, if it was not for its pixy-like performance. The Ai is certainly one reel i’d like to have in my collection but i’d rather fish using my purple alphas. it’s too nice a reel to take out. it’s bare aluminum finish might probably not be best in hot and humid climate. Last year, i manage to find a new in box Ai online but decided to give it a pass once more. if you already have two different version alphas, I personally think the money is better spent on something like a Shimano Aldebaran or a Daiwa TD-Z (any model). that’s my take.
however, the TD ito is something that i’d really like to have but I have “no budget” [:D]
