From my personal experience, take a boat of at least 12 ft. long. Then you can put 2hp, 5hp or 15hp outboards.

Since you are looking for a aluminium boat, you may have to wait till Aussie currency becomes weaker or cheaper. Then those importers will start bringing in the products. I can think of Savage, Allycraft or Quentrix. These brands were brought into Malaysia before.
Australian boats are better as they are welded and using thicker aluminium plates. The rivetted boats of thinner material cannot withstand knocking into floating logs in our waters, and such almost unseen logs are plentiful all over our dams. I can see many such boats having bad dents due to thin aluminium plates being used.

I have using a Bujuk 12 from ETAMEX with a 10hp Mecury engine for the past 5 years and can say that its a good boat and a perfect combination with the outboard. I highly recommend that you look into it.
My 2 cents experience.
Think of fishing as our life and the fish as air, we need them to survive as much as they need us to take care of their home.
While I admire the Bujuk 12 as it is built tough and is spacious, I would say it is rather slow in choppy water. In choppy water, the waves will splash in from the bow upon collision with them. Under the circumstances, one will have to put the weight towards the stern in order to raise the bow sufficiently to ride over the waves.
But I agree with Mejor that it is a good boat. Of course we cannot have everything.

Check out www.eco-sports.com.my for the US-made Duroboats. They complied with the flotation safety requirement by the US Coast Guard. The US Army uses it in Iraq to patrol the lakes and rivers. Comes with floor board and better quality finish. Not cheap. But, that’s the price you have to pay.

pada pendapat abang2 semua jika saya menggunakan 5kk engine sankut untuk aluminium boat 12kaki adakah mencukupi kuasa kuda(5hp) untuk sungai dan muara?sekarang saya ingin juga mengunakan untuk fiber boat 12kaki adakah 5kk mencukupi? kerana tempat yang dituju tidak jauh.[:)]
