WAR: it’s not about who’s RIGHT, it’s about who’s LEFT

vodkaman
a medium ‘s’ motion
sinks nose-down but love to have it sink horizontally
need to reconfigurate the weight distribution [:(]

FT
less fly-tying, less fishing, less teh tarik & tok-kok
then got plenty time to carve lure hahaha
got to meet up to swap some lure & fly bro [;)]

Being a bit of a perfectionist, which is obvious from looking at the lure, you naturally want it to sink horizontally. But, the re-distribution of the weight would probably mean moving lead into the rear segments. This could well dampen the action some. Also, once the bait is moving, it swims horizontal anyway.

I politely suggest that you leave this one as is, after making such a good job of the finish and go catch some fish with it. Save the tweaking of the ballast for the next one, before adding any finish.

Truly a lure to be proud of. Congrats on the action too.

Vodkaman

i’m alright w this bait
but the idea of having the same bait to sink horizontally wld b nice [:)]
still trying to figure out how to distribute the weight but yet maintain the action [:(]

Think adjusting the body height and width for more even weight distribution. Take a bit off here, fatten a bit there…

Now show us the one you are doing with all the detail carvings.[:D] Don’t hide hide your masterpiece lar.

One option to consider is to use a lighter wood for the front section and a slightly heavier wood for the tail section. I don’t think this has been tried before, so you could be the first!

It possibly still leaves you with the same problem of trying to preserve the action, except the extra weight in the density would be evenly distributed.

smaller & lighter single hooks on the front(eagle claw siwash, very light for it’s size, use 2 split rings) and bigger, heavier trebles on the back perhaps?

now where did i leave my carving knife? [:D]

Fat Rap,

I guess you are a pro in this…where you from… im from kl… and i had major problem in getting the soft wood (pine, jelutong, etc)…can you advise me where to get the wood…im really scare of carving my finger again since my last accident..last month…making my first crankbait attempt… my masterpiece still remain incomplete since i still lack of equipment…:frowning:

I’m a beginner…i know nothing…so abang-abang, kakak-kakak, taiko- taiko sekalian…please teach me…

Aeson,

Jelutong wood can be found at craftshop/DIY shop/
bookstore/stationary shop - ask for carving wood for school project.

Pine wood (no so good quality ones [:D]) can get from pallet used to transport goods.

Just go shop around and if still cant get, PM me hehehehe
