Hi Sam, cool bikes! Two of my fishing friends just returned from touring Europe with folding bikes recently (dunno if they are of this brand) and they swear by it as great fun and is the way to see Europe in ‘finer detail’. I believe them, as from the pictures I saw, these bikes were very nippy when folded in their hotel balcony and when they were travelling esp on trains. One good thing also was that it is free of charge on trains while regular bikes have to pay a fee. A good way to travel, experience and soak in the local scene.

I read in today’s Star and there was an article about foldies and I am slowly getting poisoned now. Hahahaha though I am still thinking about where am I going to use the bike and for what. LOL!!! I am interested in the mild offroad type but noticed that they are without mudguards - which means if I am offroad, I might be splashed by my own bike tyres. Have to seek expert advice before committing. BTW, how much are these for an average quality bike?

Yes, I believe it is Rodalink. They are in Jalan Telawi in Bangsar, USJ Taipan and elsewhere. I just googled it.
Understand that a new player will soon be in town probably by early 2012 ie ‘Tern’. This is owned and run by the son of David Hon (Dahon owner). Father and son splitted up and a court battle is imminent. Son left to start ‘Tern’ bikes in direct competition with his dad who owns and run Dahon. Tern’s new products to be launched looks good but I am sure the price will be high too :-(.

How much does one roughly cost?
I have been thinking about getting a foldaway bicycle for some time. Portable & quick to deploy. Rather than spending thousands on a 4x4, a bicycle with an able-body cyclist/angler can reach more places than a car. If stuck, can always hand-carry the bicycle & walk/trek across obstacles.
I live for the Hunt!

I was in Ikano Power Centre recently. At the basement is this Thule shop that also sells folding bikes (cant recall the brand). Are they any good?

Recently I also came across another shop dedicated just to foldies, in Damansara Perdana. Unfortunately, it was closed (at 3 am, dont ask what I was doing there!).
But i noticed a couple of folding mountain bikes. Really looks the bisnez, with full sized wheels. But too dark to see the price tags, sigh.
As you can see, I’m now in the market for a foldie lah, but biding my time, making sure I get the right one [;)]

On the subject of bikes, there’s this shop near my place in Sri Damansara, that sells cheap bikes, ranging from go-to-pasar models with baskets on the front, all the way to competition mountain bikes.
The shop’s called Wunderlich. The GTP model cost RM12k…[:0]
