I’m a newbie and need some opinion on Shimano’s fishing reels. Any die hard Shimano fans out there who could give me some help here ?

Although most of my reels are Shimano but don’t discount other brands , especially Daiwa . Depending on the type of reel , some Daiwa reels are better than Shimano reels , in my opinion .

Hi guys.. Well I use to be crazy for Tica reels.. Shimano is quite expensive if compare the quality with Tica.. Same spec but different price.. But for sure the more expensive, the better the reel is.. Gonna earn myself some cash to grab that Calcutta… I love that reel very much..

Wah lau ehh… never knew I started a topic which supposed to find some hardcore “Shimano” reels’ fan but instead.. hahaha… nevermind.. thanks everyone who supported and replied to this topic.
Been busy lately so got no time to continue this topic (not b’cos of World Cup laa.. just work)… well.. first of all… thanks again to those who replied and supported on this topic here… 
My actual purpose to open up this topic is because I wanted to find out more on “shimano” reels… too many series until making me so blur… eg. “baitrunner”, “stella”, “sienna”, “solstace”, “sonora”..

[:D][:D][:D]Me also BTC…but…haizzzz…whatever webs you go also almost the same la…be it shimano, daiwa, penn, dam and what not, so why just target shimano leh?..unless you are shimano fan or kena racun by some shimano fanatics[:p]…like the sifus out there have said…NO single brand produces ALL the good/best models/reels in the world. Be prudent in your choice[;)]</font id=“purple”>

considering your question, the general opinion/consensus is that shimanos hold up well, last a lifetime, perform/deliver BUT are seemingly more sensitive, ie need more TLC/better detailed maintenance - just like having some (sensitive) high end tech/electronic stuff entails more care.
dat said, even stellas are known to corrode; this is from shared first hand user’s experience
comes back to basics:
a) your target(s)
b) fresh or salt
c) expectations/wants
d) budget
e) preference for spinners or BCs
f) method, ie bottom, trawling, luring, etc
g) sometimes, destination is an important consideration
the above will be a general guide to reel size, line capacity, features and capabilities.
shimano has low, mid- and high end.
those who swear by a certain model have found the ideal reel for their fishing - there is no one-fits-all reel, just get one or two … or three that meets your needs. [:p]

just to share, i started fishing in just few years back and the most expensive reel i ever bought is shimano 4000fb after a few cap ayam reel. for that time its worth rm100++. from that time, i never bought any reel until now.
the question is: anybody know the new shimano model c14. last a few month ago, my relative gave me 2 brand new shimano c14. he told me its for my wedding gift. when i went to the fishing shops, i cant found the model. just to know the value/ spec of that machine.
utk info reel belum guna lagi sebab sayang..hehehe.
