I got this reel last week… but found is quite difficult to get fish hooked up… even line almost straight out… even DRAG lock to max… but once leave up the rod the line is still going out…
Can anyone give tips and advised how to configure this reel???

presumably it is a 1000 series reel
can be considered light
as it is, most probably has very light drag (i could be wrong)
we need to fish a little differently when using light reels
i am so used to my 2000-2500 reels …
couldn’t believe how line on my symetre 500 kept going out even when drag has been tightened down (not full lock down)
had to learn not to yank or pump the rod like i usually do but let the rod and drag do their job … then only i had fun [:p]

bro, r u using braided line? ur spool is not meant for braided, try sticking a tiny foam tape (i got it from powerpro braid) at the bottom of the spool b4 spooling ur line.
… or use about 10 feet of mono as backing, tied tightly to the spool. Wild boar is suggesting that your braid may be slipping instead of gripping the spool ( that is if you are using braids )

If found out wat it was my own fault… Due to not tide tight on the end of the reel. And didn’t lock max the reel during spool in.
