Recently had visited Melbourne and took the chance to fishing along the Great Ocean Road.
I had fish nearly every fishable jetty and beach, here just to share some photos I took at Apollo Bay
Apollo Bay is about 2 hours drive from Melbourne airport, it is amazing how cheap you can rent a car per day in Melbourne - we got our Camry at 35 AUD per day. it is autumn so the weather is pretty cool.
When me and my wife arrived the Apollo Bay there were few fishing already, most of them caught salmon and whitings. I set my gear and begin fishing in no time.
It only takes 15 minutes before this nice snapper caught on my light gear. and it is a legal size - snapper above 27 cm is legal in Victoria.

I am very surprised that there is a tap water and a garbage trunk at the jetty and the jetty is so clean that you can actually sit on it.
after the first fish I must have catch and release more than 10 smaller snapper before the next big one - a skate took my bait. it was late and the jetty is very high. I did not have catch net with me, but here comes this fella actually climb down the ladder and pull the skate up. I gave him the fish and he can not be more pleased to accept it. told me that is the fish he is after for BBQ for the family.

it was dark but before we leave the jetty we saw seals under the jetty - this shows how clean the environment. the very next morning when we back to the Jetty again, we saw two pengiuns…
it is for sure a pleasant journey. I got to fishing also in Sydney. sorry no photos because I was there alone and my wife went shopping, did not left me the camera. I have to agree that Australia is indeed a fishing paradise.
oh, by the way, I did purchase a fishing licence last me 28 days fishing in Victoria. I will post it when I scan it.
