banax zest

hi ppl. any experience with this lp baitcaster? how’s the performance on this model?

Hi nyama,

I haven’t use this reel before but inspected the quality. it looks flimsy especially the spool drag adjuster. I felt you should buy the best BC you can afford and not stinch on it. BC reel is a complex mechanical system. The truth is everytime a cast is made, the spool is spinning very close to getting a char bee hoon. a good quality reel will repeats its performance on whatever setting you have put into. this will make the learning curve easier. i recommend shimano calcutta standard unit for starter. If you have extra cash, calcutta TE is the better. if you have been a left hand cranker since the spinning years. go get a left hand BC.

Using correct equipment can make a difference

how much would a calcutta cost? cheapest also about rm700+ right?

anyway, i’m not looking at the zest anymore. i’ve got a slightly bigger budget now, since i won a fishing competition yesterday.

wei… goin to upgrade already ah…

wei y not try Abu.. coz got higher drag number… some more cheaper…

i memang sudah check out these lists. been looking at these lists for sometime. still can’t decide. although, right now i think feel like the revo inshore would be a good choice for me

by the way… inshore quite big size… compare to Revo.. but can have more line capacity…

but really ask urself… 1st are U going to shore do alot’s cast or not?
wat i know lot’s ppl also used those round reel and inshore for bottom fishing as well..

the best way is go Tackle shop try on Hand… see which 1 you like… and how the feel…

nyamaoan,

sounds like time for you to seriously consider getting a (custom) rod to go with your reel(s) [:D].

  1. how often do you fish?
  2. do you plan/intend to fish regularly or off and on only?
  3. type of fishing - mostly BC or spinning? casting or bottom?
  4. sticking to freshwater or planning to go to sea?
  5. mostly pond or including streams/rivers/estuaries?

considering your (ouch) experience with the black rose, the right custom will more than measure up to your needs. investing in customs means no need to get more off the rack rods.

depending on range: 2-3 off the rack = 1 custom.

has anyone tried the new shimano scorpion xt? looks good…

WAR: it’s not about who’s RIGHT, it’s about who’s LEFT

I have a banax zest (my 2nd BC), bought it for RM100 at Sg Pelek (on the way home from one of the makan-makan with DocSyed at Bgn Lalang).
Its a left-handed retrieve, spooled with braided line.

Have use it at Teratak Madu and caught 2-3 kilos catfish with it.
Have not own other types of BC (Shimano,Daiwa, etc), so cannot compare.

Have not use it much because there’s not a lot of places for casting in Klang Valley.
Last 2-weeks ago, tried the Bkt Cerakah FFLCC. Not easy to get the fishes (very educated), but a good place to learn BC. Used my other Banax BC loaded with 10-lb mono (right-hand retrieve), easier to untangle the bird-nest.
(Still learning to cast properly using a BC)

My personal take on a BC: Whatever that I wanted to do for my preferred type of fishing (both fresh- and salt-water), I can do it much better with my spinning reels.

In my humble opinion, if you have the means, get yourself a proper custom rod to go with your preferred type of fishing. It will definitely enhance the fishing experience.

DEI…u fella out of topic lio la…nyamaoan talking abt BC la…u fella wanna talk abt custom rod pulak[B)] but what u fella said is also true. It took me some years b4 I went BC. Still not my preferred choice to date[:I]. Perhaps my finger is more supple than my thumb or perhaps I prefer the simplicity of maintaining spinners[;)]. Most of the time I use my BC for saltwater seafishing or shore/rock fishing. There are fishos out there that swear by BC. Yet there are also fishos who swearby spinning so it’s a matter of personal choice. Having said that, I tend to agree with startrek n acheong about the custom made rod issue. The feel is out of the world.</font id=“purple”>

hi acheong. the black rose… that wasn’t me. that was chris1.

n i decided i wanna look for either abu garcia orra sx (if out yet), or (if can’t find orra) one of the max series reels.

after talking to wkl n tjs, decided to save money n get a more basic, yet usable bc reel as an introduction to bc, since it’ll be my first. and if i get more comfortable with bc, then maybe move up the ladder next time.

Yup finally made ur decision bro…

Just hav sum back up just in case u kena racun by bc muahhahahahhahahahah

Novice angler here, any constructive advices greatly appreciated. Thank you

always will want better, mor expensive stuff one la. that one no worries. shimano n daiwa know how to keep coming up with better stuff. no matter how much back up also cannot save us if we dun control n set a ceiling to our budget. eh. u know where got orra ah? got see anywhere ah? supposed to be out dy right? since september 09.

you can call up PURE FISHING malaysia… but wat as i know it mayb after 6 month…
