Bass Raider 10E Boat

After much considerations and consultations from expert, I finally bought the Pelican Bass Raider 10 E.

Had a short round of break the virgin trip, the stability was really superb, quite comfortable too especially if for two person. Will post pictures on next outing. The only set back is it don’t have a good place to rest your rods and give you the feel that the rods will topple over the boat edge.

Any one have the same boat and can share your view and experience?

Innerzen,
Congratulations to you.
The seats are very comfortable and give very good view over the water.
If I am not mistaken you have rod holders beside the seat to take care of the rods.
What is the weight and how much is it now?
How much horsepower do you use to propel the boat?

at almost 70kg, I would rather stick to my Etamax due to it’s rigidity, speed and stability in one package…

Pushing the angling limits! Lu tatau pancing jangan cakap tada ikannnn!!![:D]

At 70kg it is on the heavy side.

I have the discontinued 2 seater Coleman Crawdad. It is of almost the same dimensions but weighing less than 50 kg. I think the bass raider is made of double ply.

I think the Bass Raider is lighter than 70kg, it feels the same weight as 10ft bujuk. Maybe stated weight include the two chairs that is carried saperately.

Anyway this is a fish hunter boat and not meant to speed at bigger lake. I have my eyes set on a good 12 footer V hull for bigger lakes in later times but for now let me enjoy the this boat for a while first.

One big advantage is, the whole boat is cool and nice to contact with.
Wahoo, Piscator and others thanks for your imput, let see if we can arrange an outing together and exchange our toys and experience. Cheers..

Doc,
Look into the possibility of converting those 2 chairs to a lower, swivel able and detachable type. Lower cg means better stability and with it being swivel, you can turn 350 degrees without having to move the boat!
A friend of mine used a fibreglass chair obtained from a stadium complete with pipe at the bottom. All he had to do was to fix a bracket to the boat to receive the pipe!

Tightlines and screaming reels

Bro RR, thanks for the idea , when I meeet you again will study the details. But for this boat being a pontoon type I sat or stand right at the edge of any corner and it is still stable. I am interested to redo the chair more to open up space usage.

Innerzen,

If you wish to change the chairs, please reserve the original bass raider chairs for me. I would buy them from you for my boat project.

I was thinking of installing two pedestal seats for my boat for a long time but the costs put me off. Hahahaha.. pensioner has paltry income.

Piscator,

Ya I checked the price of installing the chairs on the alu boat and it comes out to Rm 500+ per chair. This is one reason I choose the Bass Raider , Minus Rm1100 from the selling price Rm 4300 the boat is only Rm 3200 and it is custom fit.

I don’t think I need to modify like what RR suggested, after reading the 2nd time. The Bass Raider flooring has those alternating flooring bar that when you put any of the small chairs like those you buy from fishing shop it holds firmly so if I want to use this boat with three person I don’t use the BR chair but those small ones.

Bass Raider is 10 ft long and 4 ft beam. Weight 66kg. Rated 3 - 5 hp. Capacity of is 600 lbs. Nice boat. Shall take a lift from you. Hehehehe.

Hi Piscator,

Happy CNY, maybe I have grown stronger and have strong maids, but we were able to lift the boat to the car with no strain. Will weight the boat w/o chair one day. Or maybe the design made it easy to carry I really don’t know.

I was very hessitant to buy this boat earlier inspite of UBOB’s and other friends’ constant assurance.. I decided on it later thinking must try something new.

Had another round of use 3 days back this time with the swivel chair (two person only) on and I must say it was really different, movement to fish was fast and 360 degrees. Bcos the chair fit an arch over the boat suddenly you have alot of space to put your gears.

Let me use it ome and will feed back infos here..
