Hi, i would like some expert opinion on these stuffs,
the lemax XF-96-3 fly rod, paired with the tomman GoFly 56 reel.
i havent gotten to try my hands on fly fishing yet, but judging from what i see from laguna, its intense and fun. I shopped around at Tacle box and i found that most fly sets are out of my budget range as i’m just a student. then i found the set mentioned above at TCE tacle. The whole set costs bout Rm250-280.
last but not least, can anyone teach me to fly? [:D]

i got one which was less then rm 200 actually and its
quite a nice set.
talk to them about teaching you how to fly too!

What reubenc say is true. I got one myself at tacklebox, price RM188 complete with training class.. Only the reel is made of plastic..
But overall is very reasonable for a beginner like me!!!

oh, is that including the lines and all? classes is held once a week or what?

My suggestion to you would be to concentrate on getting your casting right first.
Don’t be too keen to catch a fish on fly on your first try or your casting will suffer.
If you practise the wrong techniques, muscle memory builds in and will make it harder for you to unlearn and to learn the proper technique later on.
Get the casting DVD from Nick and look thru it to get the basics. For more instruction, just drop by Tacklebox. There are always fly fishers “lepaking” there and if you ask right, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind giving you a few pointers at the field oppposite the shop.

yeah taggy, i would recomend to go for classes
first and not rush to learn how to fly.
it aint as easy as it seems.I learnt it the hard
way.
I bought a cd and thought i could learn from there
but nothing beats one-to-one coaching from someone
experienced

I stay at Bdr Sri Damansara and I practise fly fishing at field on weekend too…
Tangyp is right, get the right casting method first before you go to the real fishing. If not, you will get frustrated easily…

Me also still new in fly, still in learning process maybe all of u can give tips also.. Since i bought my first fly set only went to the class once, i tried on my own on the field near my house but still prefer to go to tacklebox to learn. At least there can and ask for some tips from the guru la..
2moro!!! Got fly class at tacklebox, me already ponteng 2 session la.. Scared after Dr.No gift public canning la in front of kfc or maybe he ask to ‘gantung’ my set for 3 month la.. hahahaa… O.K Dr.No. 2moro i will come for sure…

went by yesterday and ask the worker there already. so today i’ll go with some zonker “bullets”

fly tak sampai 30 mins raining. sial tul…i must learn to tie floating zonkers. only talapia. i want some pacu or rohu…and now i learned the hard way that flying with a wet fly is a lot harder. damn…need-more-field-time!
