Best Mee Rebus?

Hmmm, I have not found a better Mee Rebus since 1960, so I searched and searched till I ended up at the end of Jalan Doraisamy, near Jalan Campbell, KL. There is a row of stalls at a back alley and I think I finally found The Best Mee Rebus in town.

There is also an article written by fellow angler Sam Cheong (if I’m not mistaken) hanging at the shelve.

If any of you guys have tried it, please give me your comments.

Many thanks.

Vince,

You are still very young indeed!!!

Mee rebus?

Me too looking for the best mee rebus but yet to find one.

Must go to Jalan Doraisamy very very soon.

My tummy starts to ggggggrrlll!!

Family comes first, then I go fishing!!

Best Mee Jawa is at Sungai Lembing, dont trust me…chk with BenFoo, Eric, Faiz, Uncle Amin & the many KL boys who’ve had the liberty of slurping & sweating on a bowl of mee jawa in sg.lembing

Uncle-D…doraisamy tu the spiced-up mamak style soup kan? do they still do the torpedo there?

Oakinn,

Sg. Lembing Mee Jawa? Hey, why didn’t you tell me that earlier? I used to go there quite often but did not find anything interesting to eat except the Tin Miner’s Biscuit. By the way, again to make Vincent feel young , the best Mee Curry I tasted was at Temerloh way back in the early 70’s. The shop has disappeared since 1980.

And back to the Jalan Doraisamy Mee Rebus… The gravy is like a thick kurma but does not taste like it. Simple toppings of potato, hard boiled eggs, bean sprouts, sotong, parsley and fried onions over steaming hot noodles plus the gravy for only RM 3.80

Trust me, nothing comes close to this. Parking may be a problem at lunch time, so try going at about 10.30 am.

I feel fetish right now.

UncleD…was born in Temerluh in 70 & 10 years old in the 80..reckon I pun tak sempat makan that mee kari.

The one in sg.lembing is a stall before town, at the 1st jambatan gantung you see heading towards town.

That doraisamy stalls opens late through the night kan bang…was there a few times back in 92 & 93…tought they have upgraded to airconditioning now since last time crowd was really packed…some packed nasi lemak was also good there but cant remember what brand.

torpedo & balls still have or not there?

Oakinn,

Thanks for info about Sg. Lembing. Will try it the next time I get around there. But I think the night stall you mentioned is not the same. Perhaps I made a mistake about Jalan Doraisamy. There are two one way roads leading to Jalan Campbell from Jalan Raja Abdullah. The stall is at the end of the first road. I think there is a restaurant called Bodhi Tree next to it or behind Yut Kee Restaurant.

Sorry, I am just thinking off the cuff.

And Docsyed, Yes you bet I’ll try out Mak Jah and make a comparison, not to dispute your taste buds though![:)]

Dear Culky and Fadzli,

Sure, I will definitely try both of your suggestions, but only if I have a reason to be in Penang. By the way, which is the famous Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng shop? I found one stall in KL a long time ago selling Bangkok Lane Mee Goreng and it was very tasty. But as usual, it has disappeared about 5 years ago.

And about the Campbell Mee Rebus, the exact location is at the end of Jalan Kamunting, close to the junction of Jalan Campbell. Went there this morning but it was closed. Huh? I hope not closed for ever. Perhaps I was too early, 9 am. Anyway, it saved me some additional calories!

Wahoo,

I nearly reported you to the ‘lost and found’ department but suddenly you turned up hahaha!

And thanks Choo, as I will head to Pulau Tikus the next time I am in Penang. By the way, is the Bangkok Lane Mee Rebus nice or is it just all in the mind?

“Fishing Pressure Reduces The Pleasure”

To me it’s nice compared to others in Penang. I’m not sure about other ppl’s taste or likings.

Choo , I agree with you that stall rock, one of the best. I think the char koay teow stall on the opposite is very good too. I thank God for Air Asia, now i can go back twice a year to EAT, get fat and buy fishing gear. [:D][:p]

Anyone tried the mee rebus at - Uncle Don, opposite StarBucks, at Plaza Damas, in Hartamas KL..?? Tough fight with Mak Jah, maybe 2nd Best to MJ.

Oakinn,
You mean the restaurant just beside the jambatan gantung, the restaurant owner have quite a large aquarium that filled up with the famous Sg Lembing fishes. on the other side is a big house belong to the former MP, is that right???
