Appreciate for any further comment or add-on, as the objective of this propose mini tourney is to enhance the competitiveness of the Malaysian caster in the near future distant tournament.
Since there no comment from our fellow casters from and off the forum on the hdcap, I would like to suggest that we have a teh tarik session at Harmain, Wangsa Maju for details discussion if there is any somewhere nxt week.
I hope we can materialize our 1st event latest by June.
Hope this will be a start of many more “mini tournaments” to come.
Here are some of my 2 cents worth on the subject:
Have proper record keeping
We all want to win (Semua nak menang haha) and the handicap system will ensure a level playing field between the better casters, the novices and those who are stuck at a ceiling (like me). However the handicap system if not managed properly can become an issue later on (My point here is - if we want to have a handicap system then we must do it properly - keep proper record keeping of everyone’s casting distance and use this to calculate future handicap)
Recognised the good casters
Winning this mini tournament through handicap is one thing, but record breakers should also be recognised. If someone breaks 200m for example (Syed we are still waiting haha) than this should be recognised and awarded accordingly (just like above, proper record keeping will ensure that record distances in the various categories are kept just like UKSF)
Basically make it fun - to encourage more people to participate
But at the same time make it official so that we can gauge the Malaysian Casters and improve. In the next PeMM tournament, lets see more Malaysian Casters in the top 10.
Just my 2 cents worth, I am all for it (the casting court is just behind my house anyway haha, 23m hmm r u sure Bro Onn, my new toy dah ready ah ah will see this weekend whether kejong or not haha if distance will have to change my nick name to Fariscentury)
Definitely we will have a record keeping from each tourney held, as mentioned we will review or revised the handicap from time to time of each caster whether there an increase or vise verse. Anyway I will display of each result in the forum and the new handicap for the next event.
About the barrier breaking of 200m casters recognition I will leave this to Aznaff @ Boss for the additional reward, perhaps he will donate one of his Kejong Geeplex Rod.
Issue on the Novice Caster, is a bit problem, what I can think of is to create separate category for them and at the same time provide a personal instructor or trainer macam TV3 Mentor series. But don’t you dream or expect Siti Norhaliza take you as her protégé hahaha. The ideal is to guide a novice caster the right and safe way to execute a cast.
Your handicap of 23m is based from result of the previous 2 tourney i.e. Tg. Malim and recent Shah Alam. But should you want a 2.3m handicap, I have no objection as you will be No.2 in the list (power tu).
Would like to propose the date of our 1st mini tourney on 26th June 05 and the 2nd tourney on 24th July 05, that is 2 weeks prior to the 4th PeMM Distant Casting tournament.
Any objection?
The event start at 8am at Bukit Mahkota Casting Range.
YES, En.Rahim is the champ for the month of June with distant of
167+10= 177m.
Syed distant is 180m since he have a -10m on the handicap so his distant is only 170m.
Lastly my BIG CONGRAT to En.Rahim of Pancing Layang from Joran, Berita Harian been the 1st champ and really hope somebody will beat him in the July tourney.
Below are the result of our 1st monthly casting challenge.
Khalid @ En. Rahim: 177.35m
Dr. Kamal: 175.43m
Faris: 174.65m
Zamri @ Mat Jepun: 172.05m
Syed: 170m
Affian @ Abang: 168.52m
Wan: 168.35m
Aznaff @ BOSS: 165.10m
Onn @ D’Collector: 164.96m
Rashid: NR
Next challenge will on 31st July 05</font id=“red”>, there a slight changes on the prizes, it is proposed to have 3 prizes that is 1st (50%)</font id=“red”>, 2nd (30%)</font id=“red”> and 3rd (20% of pool</font id=“red”>). Winner shall treat the poor looser a drink each and makan sendiri bayar, entrance fee still remain the same RM5 each. Any comment on this?
HANDICAP vs HANDYLAP
++arghhhhhhh…agree with your suggestion BRO ONN..But wwhy ???I want to suggest we play another common trick. How if later we do a 'collect point 'marking. So every body is having 100% chances to win or loose because of their individual handicap and handylap.
ex:pointer mark
caster 1: cast 1 - burst - 0.0
: cast 2 - crack off - 0.0
: cast 3 - OB - 0.0
: cast 4 - 165 m - 6.5
: cast 5 - 154 m - 5.4
: cast 6 - 150 m - 5.0
: cast 7 - 179 m - 7.9
total collect point - 24.8 point
he came, he pay, he cast, he crack off,he burst, he OB,he kejung,he masuk hospital, but he able to win…or should any 0. mark to be deduct .2. point ??? every body is a handicap caster unless the handylap …
My gratitude to Onn for making this mini tourny a monthly success…hope we can see many more new faces. Rakesh and the gang did come, but they only brought their ‘short’ rods lah…he he.
