Anyone knows where I can buy bullet weights for Texas Rigs in KL or Selangor? Thanks!
Kenny - You will have to look around for the blue circular sliding containers. ( the Yellow containers are more common ). Most shops do not order a lot - but I saw some in the shop near Young Trading a week ago.
Unless I am mistaken - they now cost RM6+ compared to the RM4.50 that I used to pay.
Why don’t you try cutting some of the normal lead sinkers in 2, and then ream out the bottom with a large drill bit ? Saves you some money. and it helps me reuse some of the sinkers where I crimp one end for my pond fishing.
Save not, want not - and works just as well ! [:D]
Thanks Mike. Yes, I used to cut my normal elongated sinkers into halves for texas rigs but got lazy when my stock finished. I thought that if the bullet weights are cheap, I might as well buy them; obviously they are not[:D]. They are also hard to find.
Thanks for your advice Mike.
ps: We will need to get together for drinks this week or next along with KL Wong. It’s been some time now[:)]. Cheers!

wow it’s been so long since i last shop for them… rarely use them anymore altho i fish sp a lot!!! Anyway i stock up a mountain of them few kilos in my closet waiting to be called for duty
if i’m not mistaken, n if the shop still carriy them… try TCE tackles. All their outlet should have normally lined up together with the other normal sinkers section. They’re as cheap as the normal ones of the same weight and work just as fine… however those day when i start stocking there’re only a few available size. Not sure bout now tho, well give it a try if u r free…
btw mine i got from TCE seri petaling. Altho i stock many other makes n brand from other part to end up piling in my room
good luck!
I only have 13 years of fishing experience, so must beri tunjuk ajar!
eh? KL’s back in town?
must get together … [:D]
Thanks for the info TJS[:)]. Will check it out at TCE. Cheers!

When did you start like the texas rig, bro?
Murphy’s Three-fold Law:

Nothing is ever as easy as it looks.

Everything will take longer than you think it should.

If anything can possibly go wrong, it will.
Try Red Hot Anglers at Kelana Jaya, PJ. They stock up bullet weights & price is reasonable.

Arnold, I have been using the carolina and texas rig since I first started fishing :-). Have not used them for the last 15 years as I only used crankbait now. Now thinking of trying them out again[:D].

How many of you guys have had success with texas rig? I’ve tried it for a few times for Haruan fishing but never had luck.

Hennesy, try using the lightest weight you can use for your rig. I have a feeling your weight for haruan may be a tad heavy. This will make your rig sink and even look un-natural to the fish ![]()
Haruans also do not normally chase aggressively after their food - check your rate of retrieval. Slower is OK, but never too fast.
I have had good success with light weights ( as recommended by Ken above ), and almost bouncing a SP worm ( weedless to suite conditions ) or a wobbly tail, slowly on the bottom.
Strike quickly when you feel a nudge - no time to look for bubbles as in the case of the poor froggies. [:p][:p][:p]
Hi f4f and Mike,
Just to learn a bit from here and there. what kind of SP you normally use for Texas Rig?
When feeling a bit extravagant - PARA MAX Power Worm 5 inch pumpkin from Kepong.
Normal times - similar worm / curly tail shape from Berkley GULP / Powerbait, with same mottled pumpkin color if available. White in the early mornings and late evenings.
All with offset hook - and no weight if possible. When necessary, as I do not like stomping around in leech infested water - the smallest weight possible just to get beyond the weed line.
