Can ABU C3 be supertuned?

Guys,

I have a 15 yrs old 5500C3 2speed. I love it to bits and caught so many fish over the years. But its a very tired reel. Im sure alot of people here has at least one ABU round bc.

How do i change the bearings to a faster one (ABEC7 ?). Where to get it in KL. Or maybe get the same bearing as the Abu Record and also change the bearing for the worm drive since its just bushing (C4 has bearing for the wormshaft).

i think the original bearings in Abu reel either abec 3 or 5 is fast enough, it just a matter of viscosity lubricant used … i dont think KL stock abec 7, but you can get new abu standard bearings from Kepong Tackle…

Don’t expect to much on ABU C3 series. I changed a plastic bush (left side) on worm gear shaft with bearing but i didn’t feel any different after that. But you can buy an idling gear fitted with bearing through eBay. My C3 ABU produce ‘tik-tik’ sound from that idling gear.

Hi All… am thinking to send me 6500 for overhaulin… the drag is gone even after I lock it to max… this start giving me problem when I last tried to pull in a mama ray at max drag… thinking to get the carbontex set… any idea where can i get mine tuned-up… (am now using it for surf fishing… )…

if you’re around KL, i think you should try to Kepong Tackle coz they stock some rare parts for Abu…

Can also use the carbon matrix, can get fm JD Artac of JB, check the tackle retailer section.
