Hi all kaki, want to ask how to apply for the cartopper permit/license? Anyone can help?

last time in johor my friend get saman for tranporting his boat on top of his storm, what i was understand was at johor side they don’t give permit for cartopper. but maybe can try for trailer.

hi. about the car topper, my friend told me that car topper is allowed if it is not longer than your vehicle. if it longer longer than your vehicle, then it’s up to the JPJ’s officers to give the ‘love’ letter or not. but to be save, if you are going to bring your boat to long distance trip better for you to get it on the trailer and try not to go through any road blocks as may be ‘someone’ might ask for lunch or dinner treat.(understand what I mean?)

car topper permit/license is free, as Rainbowrunner has say refer to JPJ. Go to the technical department get a form (free) and fill up the particular, best if you come with a photo taken together.

There are no provisions in the rules and regulations to book him for an offence if the length and width of the cartopper does not exceed those of the transporting car; if it is securely fastened; and if the cartopper does not exceed 9 inches from the roof of the car. This is what I have been advised.

Just make peace and go along with the systems.
After all what you want is to transport the boat and not to argue with the JPJ. Thst is the wisdom.

  • Boleh… tapi syarat dari JPJ… panjang bot mesti tak melebihi panjang kereta… dan lebar bot mesti tidak melebihi lebar bumbung kereta…

  • 1st skali pergi mana2 JPJ mintak borang bawak bot… tajuk borang tu… Borang Permohonan Pemasangan Aksesori (Menambah Penumpang / Memasang Kanvas / Tambah Pagar Sisi / Iklan / Bawa Bot / Surf Board / Bawa Tangga / Ekzos)… no borang KA/PA/007 (kalau download dari website JPJ pun ada borang ni… tapi kalau amik dari JPJ Seremban… borang dia lain sikit.. tapi kalau dari JPJ Seremban lagi senang nak isi… saya ada salinan borang ni… kalau sapa2 nak… boleh mintak kat saya)
  • isi borang tersebut dan sertakan dokumen2 yg perlu…
    a) satu salinan kad pengenalan pemunya berdaftar
    b) satu salinan kad perakuan pendaftaran kenderaan
    c) gambar dengan muatan yang berkenaan. (lekatkan gambar pada kertas A4)
    d) pada bahagian bawah kanan borang… sila tulis saiz bot (panjang x lebar)…
  • hantar borang serta dokumen yg diperlukan ke JPJ Putrajaya (sy pernah buat permohonan ni kat JPJ Seremban.. tapi reject.. diorg kata kereta sedan tak bole bawak bot… hanya 4wd dan kereta wagon je boleh bawak bot….sy tak puas ati… terus call JPJ Putrajaya…. JPJ Putrajaya kata kereta sedan boleh bawak bot atas bumbung… dan sy terus hantar permohonan kat JPJ Putrajaya)
  • dah hantar permohonan tu… JPJ Putrajaya akan bagi 1 kad rujukan.. utk kita check status permohonan…. Tunggu lebih kurang seminggu… pastu call balik JPJ Putrajaya utk tanya status… kalau dah approve… bole gi amik permit tersebut…

berapa bayaran yg perlu utk permit tersebut…??

  • semuanya percuma… borang percuma… dan permit tersebut juga percuma… tak payah renew… permit tersebut cuma surat rasmi yg menyatakan kereta tersebut bole bawak bot atas bumbung… ni dia rupa paras borang yg sy amik kat JPJ Seremban…

Ok tu bab permit… skg ni cite pasal carrier pulak…

Kat mana nak dapatkan carrier..?? jenis camne paling sesuai…??

  • carrier ni bole dibeli kat mana2 kedai aksesori kereta… jenisnya bergantung pada jenis kenderaan…. Mcm sy… puas cari carrier utk kereta Honda ni… tak jumpa.. yg ada Cuma brand THULE.. tapi harganya lebih dari harga bot.. hehehehe… jadi sy beli utk model saga / iswara…. Dan sy modified sikit supaya kukuh… harganya… kalau brand THULE rasanya dlm RM800 – RM1200… bergantung pada eksesori lain.. sbb THULE ni jenis jual brg asing2…besi palang tu harga lain… besi yg grip bumbung tu lain… clip dia lain… yg sy beli.. harganya dlm RM120 je…. alhamdulillah… setakat ni ok lagi…

1 lagi… ni cadangan je la… kalau nak ikat bot tu… elok gunakan tali yg mcm selalu lori ikat brg tu… apa namanya sy tak tau.. tapi rupanya bole nengok kat gambar yg sy bagi tu… tali yg ikat kat body bot tu….. utk tali ikat depan dan belakang… beli tali kat kedai hardware je…. tali ikat body tu pun bole beli kat kedai hardware…. Beli yg 1ton punya dah cukup… sbb kecik sikit… kalau besar2 nnt… mcm tak sesuai la pulak.. hehehehe…harga benda ni kalau tak silap.. sy beli dulu RM15/unit… beli la 2.. utk depan dan belakang… tapi nengok kualiti jugak kot benda ni.. sbb ada tempat jual sampai RM60/unit…

rasanya tu je la kot yg sy tau.. kalau ada apa2 persoalan lagi.. bole la tanya…. Mana yg sy tau… dan pengalaman sy… sy bole kongsi…. Kat bawah ni contoh gambar yg kena antar kat JPJ tu… dan bole la nengok contoh tali ikat bot tu…
