When I go to some Kampong I saw many locals hanging a parang at their waist going around in motorcycles. A lot to tangkap I think…[:o)]

if you just bought that parang just show them the receipt..but i would say its depend on you r luck [:p][:p].. if that guy who stop u, is in good mood he will off with some advice, if he is in bad mood, you might end up at balai somewhere[xx(].
basically is is wrong to bring a knife that is more than 6inch around (pls correct me if i'm wrong)..
It really depends. If you carry a knife/parang around and have a good reason for doing so, you will not be disturbed by the polis. If you carry a knife and cannot give a reasonable account for doing so, you could be in trouble there. This is also true for any sharp instruments that could be used as a weapon. Eg: if you carry a sickle at night and got stop by the polis and when questioned by them what you are doing with the sickle in the middle of the night and you tell them you are on your way to cut grass, I can bet you will be brought to the balai. However, if the same thing happens in the daytime, you are likely to be off the hook. Another eg would be if you carry a parang by your side and you are fishing in the jungle or even oil palm estate, you will not even be stopped or questioned. Carry the same parang and you walk into a gold smith shop or bank in town even if you are dressed with wellington boots might land you in big trouble[:D].
Net, as long as you can give a reasonable and believable account of why you have a knife/parang/sickle with you at that moment in time, you should be ok[:)]. The right place, right time syndrome applies.

that is why cpos are supposed to be humans not droids…only with organic-biologically thinking brain and field-judgement they can tell either we r bad or good guys…
THE ONLY KNIFE BEING TALKED HERE IS THE SIX INCH OR LESS(EZLI HIDEOUS)
YOU MAY GET CAUGHT ON THE SPOT BUT NOT WITH THE PARANGS…
THEY CAN’T DO ANYTHING TO YOU ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE HOLDING YOUR RODS…
NO EVIDENCE NO WITNESS ONE MAAAAA…
SHOULD GET OVER IT…

my point is that you won’t be caught with all the shown parangs..
you’ll be caught on the spot…with a blade which is less than six inches..
especially if it is full of blood stain…evidence…but you can still get away with it..
let them have it for a DNA test…you can even sue them…for wrong assumptions…

What I can tell you is this - USD$52 for a yanagiba sashimi blade is a decent price. But if you factor in freight and taxes, can also be a real pain lah. Basically-speaking, sashimi knives using high-carbon steel (usually laminated between two qualities) are like keeping a girlfriend when you are married. I mean, they rust like hell, but if properly maintained, cuts like a demon. You will have to oil the knife each time you hone it and keep it away from moisture.
Is the knife chisel ground or hollow-ground? If the edge is on one side, then you will need to use a fine grit sandpaper to strop its edge. This works with most chisel-ground knives and is perfect for maintaining a razor’s edge. While browsing through the aisle, I saw a Kai Sashimi knife on sale for RM65.00 in Sogo KL. The next time I went back, sold already. The same knife went for RM160 at Robinsons Mid Valley Gardens.
As for the Spyderco Sashimi knife, it was a ‘one off’ piece by Spyderco who was testing waters. I bought it directly from the Spyderco Factory outlet in 2003. Paid about USD$75 for the piece. Don’t think they ever made them anymore.. [:(]
The KX05 (KX means ‘experimental’ or ‘test water’) was discontinued some years back. As a matter of fact, kitchen knives are no longer in Spyderco’s inventory for this year..
Errrmmm, well since we are still on the subject, here’s my latest project - the Spangler EDC jungle basher! I tried this one and fuah!! Really hardcore lah!
