a lil souped up saltwater version of alphas repackaging, and there u got it, aird red plus a new price tag

I only have 13 years of fishing experience, so must beri tunjuk ajar!

Some info from other website say that it only for light jigging, not for casting because it use difference brake system..

read from japan site..this tune reel use for bottom purpose actually..can you believe that…[:p][:p]

That’s why I say, all tackle from Japan is really breath-taking~~ I am no surprise if they create a reel that can cast itself, a rod which has diameter of “lidi” but can take the presure and strength of submarine, or a lures which can change itself to any lures we want to be… Lolxxx.. Too much fishing I think.. Hahahahahaha

i wouldn’t want a reel that casts itself.

i would be very surprised if they can make a ‘lidi’ size rod as strong as a body of a submarine.

and i doubt they will ever create a lure that can change into different shapes, because they need to make money n sell more.

lets be serious people… [:D]

the fishing scene(and everything else in general) in japan is highly pressured, and they have to come up with little innovations from time to time to generate interest from their domestic market, i.e to make their people want to buy the stuff… or else their economy would stagnate, if it already isn’t. when we bit*h about inflation, they worry more about deflation…so they go all out to cater for the niche market… take a look at JDM Shimano & Daiwa catalogs… they cover everything from reels to clothing and everything else under the sun including armbands, keychains, decals etc.

the fishermen there are highly specialised, and know what they want. so the big tackle companies have to cater to these groups of people, thus having so many variants. simply put, they can afford it, and they know what they are paying for, and are willing to pay for it. most of us, on the other hand, just ‘terikut-ikut’… using finesse reels for other purposes, expecting expensive stuff to withstand abuse etc… and then complain when it breaks down due to mishandling etc.

their reel research & production technology are years ahead of anything in the current market, and they only release it bit by bit to ‘test water’ on other competitor companies, to gauge the market response. if they were to release everything in their new flagship reels, then there will be no more new innovations in the near future. so, while they are able, they will innovate as much as possible on existing products before creating new ones. that is why they are the best innovators. the pressure is that high.

so they upgrade certain lower end reels by trickling technology found on flagship reels downwards after time. if you are not in the rush, just wait. there is no NEED to get that new reel for all that technology, only WANT… you don’t have to. the price of reels here compared to the pay we are getting is absurd. the japs can afford it because it is relatively cheaper for them in their own economy.

nowadays, the mainstream/middle-end reels are way better than the flagship reels of yesteryears. remember that even without the knowledge and sophistication of current reels, we used to catch fish. simply put, fish is decreasing, people fishing are increasing, and everyone wants to edge out the other, thus creating the NEED for more precise instruments. and tackle manufacturers are feeding us with new discoveries, new advancements etc to satisfy this need, generating the demand.

if you think your arsenal is good enough, then so be it. do not complain about the price, it is inevitable. exclusivity is what certain tackle manufacturers are aiming at, and i’m sure there are those who values exclusivity more than anything else. they want custom colours, custom designs, custom this n that…then there are mainstream anglers like you and me, who use regular stuffs for regular fishing (and not professional fishing competitors). of course there are some of us who use it to cari makan…

for a country without a professional fishing circuit ( unlike USA, Japan etc..), we cannot really understand the concept of paying 50% more for a ‘tuned’ standard reel with only an additional 2% advantage. of course there are some who will/have…or maybe we are heading there already in view of the scarcity of fishes.. ? time will tell

better/best depends very much on your own needs/wants.

word of advice, know what you are getting into by researching more. most of the time, the mainstream reels can cater upto 75% of our needs… its the other 25% of WANT that costs more that is killing us [:D]

KiaSu-ism is not confined to the little red dot below us… most malaysians are closet-type KS people in general [:D]

happy CNY to all MFN brothers! nian nian you yu (year year got fish)
