tools needed: alot of different size screwdrivers (phillips & blade), a needle, adjustable spanner/wrench, brake cleaner or similar cleaning solution, reel grease & oil. plus alot of patience if it is your first time pulling apart reels.
firstly, remove the spool, handle, end cap and bottom plastic guard from the reel. next comes the fun parts. remove the spool bearing/collar retainer and the spool bearing/collar. then using a pin or similar device push out the pin sitting inside the metal bracket which the spool bearing/collar sat on. remove the bracket completely.

i have upgraded the spool collar (original certate part) into a CRBB bearing, i have also changed the collar retainer to an o ring because it seems to have a better fit.

next using a flat blade screwdriver undo the 3 engine plate screws on either side of the reel. making sure u note which plate goes where otherwise on reassembly ur gears will be very crunchy.

next, remove the side plate from the reel, u will see the main drive gear once the side plate is removed. gently tap the reel and remove both drive gear bearings. then remove complete drive gear from reel.

now undo the two screws holding the plate which sits ontop of the antireverse roller bearing assembly. remove the plate and bearing. take note of what components live where.

there is another metal plate with 3 screws stiing beneath where the antireverse bearing once sat in the reel. remove the 3 screws and plate. u will see a bearing under that plate, gently pull the pinion gear (the brass gear) out and the bearing will come out with the gear. there is a washer at the end of the pinion gear, make sure u don’t loose it..!!

next, gently pull out the main shaft, do that by wriggling it around and pulling it outwards towards the end of the reel. (pull it out as one complete assembly.

now remove the ossilating gear by removing the screw holding it.

there is one more bearing left to push out, (i forgot to take a photo of it[:D][:D]) it lives in the little box section of the reel that the mainshaft goes through. there is also a plastic washer under that bearing, again take note of which way that washer sits.
u should end up with a fully pulled apart reel looking like this. (having one more bearing and plastic washer.. hehe..!!)

now stay tuned folks for part 2, which will go though the cleaning, greasing, oiling and general tuning of the reel.
