Daiwa Alphas R-Edition VS Daiwa Pixy VS Shimano 1000 xt VS Abu Garcia Revo Elite IB?? Which one is the best for casting?? My target is snakeheads especially haruan. Lure which i usually use is light - medium weight lure. Give full reasons plsss…
I would vote for shimano scorpion 1000XT(altho u din spec what 1000xt it is)
You in Brunei? Some of the spot around there are usually brackish water which have quite high salinity(salt content) and the reel is saltwater applicable.
drag is high. performance is good, casting lure as light as 3 gram is non issue if using thinner line. But not necessary tat light, heavy lures is also an non issue just dont go to high. Price wise is definitely the cheapest among all that u have mentioned with shimano quality ensured(cheap doesnt mean not good, plus the performance can easily challenge if not defeat the rest)
reel weight at 190g, possibly the heaviest among ur line up but i dont think it’s very heavy indeed, paired with a suitable rod(balance note) then it’s not noticeable already, there’s much more reel that weight over 200g only then they are suitable for haruan
the others are ok too for haruan application, however i would like to discourage u to get a pixy for haruan, esp those at ur place where snag and giant haruans are abundant, anything 1kg above better not to use pixy, Not say cannot but it wear out it’s gear very fast, dun believe can try
second choice for me would be an elite ib, second cheapest but with high end components and new technology, just do not fancy it’s palming profile. The art job is great too!!!
last but not least the R-edition. much to do with it’s price than anything else.
the rest is your choice mate… good luck and be happy with what you’ve bought

Ty for info. just want to know, what do you mean by not fancy by abu palming profile?? elite IB size more bigger/higher than scorpion or not ergonomics or something else…??
elite ib is flatter i think, but i just use sight as reference so optical illusion might be the culprit, anyway i think it’s higher too haha
just so happen i like the feel of scorpion and alphas more when come to palming the reel. revo not so, since i lost mine some 4 years ago i never really look back at them anymore, it still haunts me today, definitely not the reel problem but mine hehe
anyway my first choice will never change, the scorpion 1001xt

Brother, just 2 cemts.
I was Abu fan until I was introduced to Shimano.
Then I was die hard of Shimano until I was introduced to Daiwa.
After landing some snakeheads I revert back to my Shimano.
Then I use my Abu again for the rough and tough.
May be you get all three one by one.
Fish is fun but collecting reels is another hobby.
This happens to all fishos in MFN. And they have no regrets.
Then u have this lew’s that can do all the above:)

I love Abu, Daiwa, Shimano, and Lew’s!
And have all of them… And want more.
That’s the problem.
Bro MEGHNO… Can you define your idea of light - medium weight lures? exactly how light?

approx how many grams? coz when talk bout going light, difference of 1 gram sometimes makes a lot of difference.
just ask mr g, who says 3g lure is too heavy for his cq51s. hehehe.
Hi Bro Capslock,
Just my point of view. For Revo series LPBC, anything reach RM 1k is overkilling la. Almost identical in terms on the design (except the cosmetic, really make you feel dizzy the whole day [:p]).
Better find other brand such as Shimano and Daiwa. Confirm stim!!!
Just my worthless opinion. I still using Salty Stage and the performance is still good going. Spend wisely and know what you want.
Cheers~ And pls forgive me if I accidently stepping on people’s tail ya.. Hehehehe

Hi, guys. I’m planning to spend some money to get a better baitcaster. Primary go for stronger fish like toman, siakap, tapah.
My current setup is Abu Garcia Pro Max paired with Daiwa Megaforce MFC602MFB.
I was thinking Abu Garcia Verdict VCC66-6 paired with Abu Garcia Revo Elite IB High Speed version. Actually high speed and low speed, which is better? Normal have higher max drag and high speed just reel in more line in turn.
Or is there better option for this price range? Thanks.
Hi Bro M@M@,
Just my humble knowledge, and I try to share it as much as I know. Sifus outside, pls help to repair my mistake ya..[:D]
High speed reel for fast lure retrieve, but bad in cranking power. Low speed reel is poor on lure retrieve, but good on cranking power. You need to match this setup for your fishing requirement.
I cannot give any opinion which setup is good or bad, perhaps I should say, grey area. Some support by saying that high speed reel is better than low speed and some are not.
Btw, nice combination of setup you think of. [:p] Should be no problem, since Abu is very very well known for its tough gearing and insane drag power and best of all, comes with a non-overkilling price tag~~ Just that it lacks the feel of the smoothest.
Ayway, proceed as you may. Pls racun the guys here of your new setup ya~~ Cheers[:0][:p]

Yo m@m@… good setup… unfortunately ur verdict u want is 6"6’ or else i’m willing to sell u mine for a cheaper price, used once only
What bro hooi said is correct bout the gear ration(reel speed) part… Depends on what u r fishing really, if just wanna get a setup for all purpose then i suggest normal retrieve rate not too high nor too low is ok edi. Something like 6.0;1 per turn around there.
I actually still not there yet… havent really find out how good or bad they are, i simply just turn the handle faster or slower depends on what i need. Nothing specific here, still dont have the kinda $$$ to experiment with this yet hehe

Waaa Bro TJS, why suddenly wanna sell your verdict? Plan another one kah?? [:p][:p]

no lah… too heavy duty edi even tho mine only 8-17lb, urs is 10-20lb u know! and out of all the stick available tat time, only the 6 footer is balanced, tat also a lil bit tip heavy… the rest is just too tip heavy, for me i am too pampered with my other rod, cant imagine casting whole day with the tip heavy 6foot6 rod, hand sore hahhahaha
the reason i even bought it is because i dun have any 2 pcs rod prior to tat purchase and i need one for my traveliing trip to penang with family(no space for 1 pcs rod ma). now i dont need it at all… rather than resting it in my room, why not just sell it to someone who would put it to good use
