EZ Foam Popper

Just wanna share some info on how to tie a fly popper.. [:D]


You can buy those round foam or you can make it yourself by pushing a copper tubing through a sheet foam; or cut it out from your slipper.. [:D][:D]


Cover it with netting and then spray paint to get fish scale effect.


Use exopy eyes to make it more “attractive” [;)]
That’s the popper head..

Now for the body. I used a long shank size 6 Gamakatsu hook but you can use a slightly larger one.


Tie a few strand of flashbou..


Red stripe hackle for the inner tail


Orange stripe hackle for the outer tail or you can use marabou feathers.. it will give a softer tail action.


Wrap a hackle around the hook shank in the middle and finish off.


Apply a few drops of super glue at the finish part of the hackle.


Make a hole through the foam and push the foam through hook shank before the super glue sets.


Tada… [:D][:D] .. and you have got yourself a fly foam popper..

yup, this is a fresh water fly.. ( never tried fly fishing off shore.. or on shore ) [:D][:D][:D]

Hmm.. quite effective for Toman [8)]ppssstt… they say Toman will grab anything that moves..

Errr… PBs once missed this fly as I was popping too fast… [xx(]

Yet to try this on sebbies… [:D]
