I moved to Malaysia 2 1/2 months ago and have been wanting to wet a line since I landed at KLIA. I’ve been watching this forum for a while before that and I finally joined and made a post or two a few weeks ago. I was feeling pretty lucky when I got an offer to go fishing with one of the better known members here. Anyway - long story short I got to go fishing in Malaysia for the firt time Saturday, had a great time and even caught some fish.
Haruan are strong, aggressive and fun to catch. Now for Mr. Toman!
Special thanks to Rob aka Marlin for taking out the rookie and putting me on them straight away. I look forward to meeting more or you guys and exploring the nearby waters.

I’m also an expat (from UK) and a frequent fishing buddy of Rob, so I’m sure we’ll meet in the very near future. Malaysia is full of fishing challenges and a great place to fish (when you know where)
Oh, by the way, Rob has posted some of your catch up already..
Well done Eric, M’sia & MFN bid you welcome, bet you have lots of fun fishing in M’sia, wait till you go for the toman and tell us how you feel after catching one, cheers !!
1 down… Toman, Sebarau, Pacu, Peacock Bass, Marbled Goby, Belida, Tapah, etc… to go… hahahahaha. Many more lure crunching species in Malaysia, I just named a few. World fishing aye? I love it!
Those taruan were just the tip of the iceberg! Lots more fish to catch! I’ve been online all day looking at inflatable boats - and I don’t even have a car yet…so addicted!
