i used to fish for haruan at paddyfields, can get more than 100 haruans per day… fish until not enough katak… till u need cut 1 into 3… two drumsticks and 1 body… but nowadays… abit susah la… i think paddyfield owners drugged the canals… but wat the hell for!! there goes my favourite playground…
so… anyone with some spots who wanna share? kekeke… dun kedekut ok…

snakehead86, my place kelantan also have haruan in paddy field, but too little in number. haruan die cause by poison.
sometime manage to catch by using belalang only.

er…[8)]. I don’t think that can happen nowadays. hard to even find decent size haruans, let alone the huge numbers.

vincent… they used all sorts of racun now, one for every menace… racun for weeds, racun for ulat, racun for insects, racun for siput gondang and so forth. then they also rely on chemical fertilizers some more.
in the golden days, only one season per year so haruans and puyus and sepats can grow biggy over one year. then they introduced the twice per year programs so the usage of racuns and bajas amounts to double. then they came up with the idea of 5 planting seasons in two years. imagine, ikan not yet gets big, got wallopped 5 times in two years… where to get big ones now??

last time.. the canals at paddyfields used to have weeds and all… but now… the water is so damn clear… v hard to find haruan d… got one or two longkang that they din cuci… but the numbers are very limited… sad case man…

by the way .. the paddyfields im referring to is in seberang perak… near kayan… the last time i went there was during chinese new year… went with my uncles… 4 anglers… 16 haruans oni… we took home 10… 6 were kecik mayong.. so CnR… got some pics.. but v blurry ..coz the fish in my uncles custom made metal tong with small opening… but i oso duno how to post it in the thread… so cant share it with u guys!

i live beside sawah paddy, you can catch haruan 1 month only, after that all die including siput, puyu , sepilar gone with paddy racun. it was sad episode for twice season a year. maybe racun today are stronger and stronger.

Oh yea totally agree the numbers are dropping!
Mine refer to Seberang Perai side. Those days can see huge haruan caught but unfortunately i start fishing later. Now haruan baby also havent seen before over there! Use to catch a type of beautiful catfish tat look like baung, baung tikus i guess, now only puyu number increased.
Btw, seen the whole river been netted, pukat, netted, pukat until i fed up edi, no more fishing over there… Unless small game with puyu… maybe puyu small enough to get thru the holes of the net! Which mean i caught only small puyu, kanasai!
I’m just a form5 student and only have 9 years of fishing experience, so must beri tunjuk ajar!
gone were the days… anyway… always try to practice CnR if possible.. especially mama’s and small haruans… at least do a part in keeping the numbers… and hope that the numbers will grow!

eh speaking of sawah padi . My dad told me he used to fish for Eels at the Tali Air near the sawah when he’s young.He told me they will throw bait at the small small hole at the side of the tali air, according to him , those are eel holes. No rod nothing coz they were poor. just gulung badminton string over water bottle,melt the end with plastic and lighter or gam . When they bite. HOLDDDD… then turn like hell.
If really got I would like to see them man.

yes there are eels in sawah padi!! confirm.. i caught a few b4… u can find those holes at the banks of those tali air… i used umpun as bait and metal wires to fish them… the end of the metal wire is bended to shape like a hook… just put those into the hole.. and if u see the water coming out of the hole.. it means that the eel is eating the bait… wait for a lil while… let it go deep into the mouth and only u pull the eel out… but that was last time la.. nowadays i dunno lo… coz all sorts of racun is used in paddy fields.. even the hardy snakehead cannot stand it… so my bet is that eels probably would have died as well…

Adusss, Acerq70.. Harimau dah kena tembak tapi tak mati… uishh bahaya tu. Kenapa harimau tu ditembak?.. Saya pernah mancing area Pahang disekitar Bekelah iaitu jalan hala ke Kuantan dari K.L . Kawasan tersebut ada harimau dan pernah terserempak dengan harimau yang ada anak, walaupun saya berdua tetapi harimau tersebut berlalu begitu sahaja. Tapi bekas cedera kena tembak, biasanya berdendam pada manusia…
