hi Simon,

U came to the right forum, there’s a penang sifu in here by the name of Petestop…he is the Master of all sifu in Penang as i know…right Pete???

So who’s boat did u guys charter?? Ah Sing or Ah San??? 3d2n or 2d1n???

Most skipper are cranky as i have agree with Pete and it all depends on were they wanna u …just talk nicely to them n try not to interfere with them…guees u guys will be fishing roung the shipwreck n mostly will be Ang Cho, Kuih Kau, tenggiri n Gt too…depth most probably around 30-60mtr.

Main line of 50-80lb n leader from 60-80lb is more than enuff n sinkers of 28#-32# or 720-820…

Good luck guys…

Thanks so much Foo for the reply.

This is my first time to fish in Penang. The boatman i engaged is called Kenneth whom can speak good cantonese.

Yes, he did mentioned that usually ppl will fishing at the ship wreck. However, due to we are from outstation. So, we only managed to fish on day trip where we will go out to sea at 8am and back to shore at 5-6pm same day.

Can i have some of the information as below:

  • What are the bait to use?
  • What is the ideal weight/ No of sinker to use?
  • What to take in considerations?
  • What are the fishes expectation? is it a lot fishes around in end of month? we are going out on 29 aug

Thanks again

Oh day trip…how much is the boat fare???

So u guys are from which state?

Well day trip is not that productive due to sometimes we miss the tide…

  • What are the bait to use? Normally fresh kembong</font id=“red”>.
  • What is the ideal weight/ No of sinker to use? 28#-32# or 720-820</font id=“red”>-
What to take in considerations? Hooks size 16#-18# or size 2-3.</font id=“red”>-
What are the fishes expectation? is it a lot fishes around in end of month? we are going out on 29 aug. Is high tide that day and as i say fishes around wreck will be Ang cho, Kerapu Gt n Tengirri…if ur seated behind let a line out n drift for tenggiri…</font id=“red”>Good luck…[8D]

Thanks for the reply, Foo

We are from Klang, Selangor. We paid RM650 for the 43ft boat fair. Is it standard or too expensive? The fare only inclusive of diesel and driver. The rest is on us including bait, lunch and such.

From your reply on the sinker, May i know why we have to use such a heavy size? is it bcoa water underneath is running too fast?

Thanks again

Yup Simon u have to use this sinkers due to the current is quite fast at that day…

Why don u guys ask the skipper to buy kembung for u guys and charge it to the trip?

Usually 2d1n is around RM 1300 but i haven’t try day trip yet n i guess the price is reasonable due to not many wanna fish at that tide…

Roger, Will do as per advise

Thanks so much for the informations given.

Penang trip cost depends on the distance you wanna go, so, it depends on which fishing hole you go to.

For RM650 for a day trip, I think Kenneth will bring you to the Taiwan Wreck, which is quite decent
for day fishing, mainly stingray and when the season is in, good for Ngoh Ar and Soong Hong too.

Kenneth’s boat is smaller compared to other charter boat, his boat previously belong to a well-know
Tai Kong by the name Alan. Rumor is that he is building a new boat.

Ah our sifu Pete is here…[:D][:)][8D]…

Pete hows Kenneth fishing spot??? Bet u have chater his boat b4… How do u rate him???

Yup Pete, Kenneth did mentioned that he will bring us to the ship wreck place.

Anyway, like foo said how you rate Kenneth experience and services?

Thanks so much

Simon,

Guess is up to you guys on how to hook more fish on ur trip…take along some live octopus if posibble…is and added bait…

Foo,

We also plan to get some live bait like mantis shrimp. But, i also heard live octopus is also good. May i know where ca i get those live bait from?

Thanks

Simon,

Is best u call Kenneth and ask him to get it for u rather than u guys go n look for it…i myself also dunno where to get those…

Sorry guys, I’ve only been on his boat once, so, can’t comment.

Kenneth is more of a part-timer, he has another full-time job, and he only
brings people out on weekends to sustain his hobby.
