Fishing From Boat

It is so fascinating to fish from a boat. Watch this…

I know what you mean. To have your own boat, go anywhere and fish anywhere …awesome!

I bought my first boat (a secondhand Bayliner Trophy) in my late twenties. People thought I “got money” but the truth is I was driving an old junk to work and I didn’t own a house.

I owned it for more than 10 years. I have since traded in my high maintenance gas guzzler for something more eco-friendly, a kayak.

I am not totally against power boat. For practical reason, I do keep a small aluminium boat = small engine = less pollution.

I guess this eco thingy comes with age.

Samll boats are normally the cartopper kind.
Just being curious. What kind of aluminium boat do you own now?

It is an old ally I salvaged from the club’s boatyard. I remembered a Ficus tree were growing from it. Previous owner didn’t even know the brand. Guess it must have gone thru a few ownerships. If my hunch is correct, it is Aussie-made.

Though I had the Bayliner, I couldn’t pull it on the trailer. My car was too small and old to pull the heavy bugger. So, I bought the old cartop ally.

I must say, although I was proud to own the Bayliner, I had better time with the ally.

Allycraft. You are a lucky man. It is a good boat. I saw one in Port Kelang in a boatyard many years ago. It look abandoned. Later I learned from the boatyard owner it was sold cheaply.

Bro

I bought my Bayliner Trophy from a lady doctor who bought it new and used it only 4 times and then abandoned it for a couple of years. Believe or not!

The best thing was someone else was eyeing the boat but was trying to play “tarik harga” with her. You know how some customers are. She got pissed off (with that someone) and sold it to me at a lower price. Believe or not!

I believe in keeping it honest in whatever I do, whethet buying or selling, and this is why she sold it to me. I don’t think it was luck.

Same thing for the ally.

You must be the handsome prince that captures her heart!!!
Your philosophy is right. Do not bully a person in need. Do not take advantage of others. Sadly that is not the principle practised in our society nowadays.

That is why so many of us go fishing.

Go into this to see many happy boaters:

Nothing beats paddling in the calm water under the crack of dawn. The calmness, coolness and quietness is simply heaven. That’s why I turn to kayaking.

Kman

Where do you go paddling?

Anywhere I get a chance. But, mostly east coast.

Kman

Few years ago I was still keen to paddle. Now the old injury to my shoulder has come back, I have to hang up the paddles.

Do you have the way to reduce the stress and tiredness to the back when paddling the kayak as you have to sit low to paddle? I have the back rest but they dont help much.

Investing in a good seat is very important, especially when you have a back problem. Most kayaks you find at resorts and sports centres do not even come with seats let alone good seats.

If you have a back problem, go for the full-back seat. It does make a lot of different. I use the half-back seat. Not very tall lah! The half-back is actually full-back for me.

With some SOTs, you can even stand up and stretch your legs and body.

Kman

My sit on top does not have space for a back rest. The sit in tandem kayak comes with a half (quarter ?) back rest which is not subject to innovative changes. So I have to live with that.

I took a look at the Swing pix. I think you can install the standard seat that you find in the market with minor adjustments.
