I stopped fishing off-Penang for one year, hoping the fish stock will
recover. Was doing long-distance trips instead.
Only getting back this year, hope it actually can recover.
But judging from your tone, looks like it only got worse ?

few years back I acquired GPS coordinates fr retired tekong, on selected good bottom spots. We then test those tempat out, and was pua shing tang trip we had; there were 2 spots responded very well on jigs, we filled 100qt. ice box full after 3 drifts, with 3-5kg ang chor and kerapu.
Last year I revisited the tempat twice on nice current dates, the frenzy went disappeard. Where has the ang chor gone? I don’t know. Maybe someone ransacked those tempat, maybe trawler boats noticed the 50ft groove and sweep them clean. The stock diminish too fast.
The once renowned Hutan Melintang sea mountain, where 10+ 20kg of GT were landed, is now gone too. Pukat jerut boats went there, attracted the bait fishes and poor GT that anglers released, followed them to the huge scoop net.
For some reason I just could not turned from ang chor and kerapu at Jarak waters. Though the catch is getting worse, I still make trips at Jarak waters. Maybe I am trying to have memorable trips I experienced in this waters replay, but I know that perhaps will never happen again.

Bro Ktang for me i only can manage 3d2n trips…u know la know that the economy is not that good need to push sales up…Oh ya Brother Pete also got invite me on his trip but still cant manage a trip with him yet but i will be soon… Ktang u know any Boatman from pantai Remis to jarak other than Ah Soon??? We are looking for other Boatman other than Ah Soon…

If I’m not mistaken…only Ah Soon operating fishing boat to Jarak from Pantai…Foo…Did you try Seagull before ??? Last time I also use Ah Soon now I only take Seagull for my Jarak & International Water trips…more expensive than the others but really2 worth it…the services also tip-top…

For me i think i had enuff with Ah Soon, the last time my bro in law went to Jarak u know what happen??? The whole propellar fell to the bottom of the sea.
Only knew it when he wanted to change spot…have to wait a whole day b4 a fishing boat shows up n tow them back to Pantai…His boat is not equip with communication sets n the only com set is handphone.Guys im not trying to bad mouth Ah Soon but just wanna share it out with u guys.

Fine boss…My trips still going on…only less report in MFN…for sure UAT & P.Net the repot came out…hehehe…Last week is my 1st 2011 trip…so next is ZEE-Trengganu 9D8N by the end of this month…
I heard before about the Ah Soon boat from my Ipoh friends…that’s why after I satisfy with Seagull I never look back and JArak / IW trip I’ll use Seagull…If you want cheaper boat I think Peter also you can consider…base in Lumut-Pangkor Jetty meanwhile Seagull base in Pangkor Island but will pickup us at LKIM Jetty, Kpg Acheh, Sitiawan…
