There was mention in another thread regarding flies for rivers, streams, ponds, saltwater flies for Malaysia. I am wondering if we could start a thread dealing with flies for Malaysia. For example, if someone is out on a stream and takes a few pics of stream insects they find we can submit suggestions or flies we have tied to imitate said insect, arthropod or small fish. The same goes for still water and salt. This could be a fun and interesting way to share ideas and concepts with other fly fishers and tiyers. What do you think?

Hi Christ,
Definitely agreed with your suggestion…give some description on the environment, ecology etc around that part of the river and stream, then the Sifu @ expert will give some recommendation on type of flies and how to tie them. I’m looking forward to this…

Novice, that is kind of the idea. I would also love it if folks posted photos of the “fish food” they come across such as aquatic insects from under stream rocks or forage fish and the like. Kind of a "Can you tie this? challenge… hehe… get the creative juices flowing… hehe

when i drop in to this forum i was glad to see fly fishing topic ,not many malaysian do fly because ,is quite cool sport and expensive , i start love it is school time but rod i also can’t buy ,but now im doing bisness , can do the thing i want , hope can meet some pro flyer to learn the skill ,talk some fly , also fly some fish to fill my tummy , insects from under stream rocks i dint see any but i see blood sucker lots in tanjung rambutan .

Simonking - when you refer to blood suckers do you mean leeches? If so i will post a few patterns we use here in the States.
Another thing to do is, if you keep the fish to eat, check out the contents of the fishes stomach to determine what they are eating. Then design flies to match. Hehe.

if that is the case, we have to catch a fish using whatever method and dissect it immediately [xx(] … and make the fly on the spot or choose any flies that resemble in the fish stomach … hehe [:D]

i go sungai kinta(river kinta) cant find and insect below the rock or wood but found some chicken stomach and human waste 
, yak ! dont know who bangsai near by , stream better some clawing insect but cant catch them forget to bring net by the way who got it please post it let other see , malaysia people very nice one heheheh
