I have been asked to deliver this message to you that the there will be a fly fishing fair/conclave to be held at Nik Rahimi’s EAK, Shah Alam on Sunday,14 June 2009.
The showcase of the day will be a sort of competition that will test us on practical basics of fly casting. Ten (10) casts covering the art of achieving accuracy,overcoming obstacles and delivering distance with our flyline, will be presented by participants.Details to be posted later.
Those who wish to participate should register their interest with Nick Ooi of Tacklebox (03-56370268/0192025524). For out station participants who require accomodation there, Nik Rahimi may be able to book the bungalows. Please call him at 0123246959.</font id=“maroon”>

It is not a competition. The games are designed for conversation piece during the conclave. I think the organiser is taking into consideration of the difficulty level of each games and the practical aspect of the minimum skills required for these games in our normal fishing.
Think of the conclave as a fly fisho gathering with some games thrown to test visitors skills in fly casting and fly fishing in general. Some sweeteners will be thrown in as well. Ask Nick and David for the details. He he he… rumours are saying got char kuat token.
Yesterday I caught one baby haruan only. Long time no fly fishing… casting also koyak already.
Yes you are right, it is not a competition per se but a sort of competition if you know what i mean. It’s you against yourself, just like golf.
There will be 10 casts with no 5 rated rod each of us has to perform, such as roll cast, back cast, switch cast, side cast under obstacle, high back, distance, loop control into hoollahoop and accuracy cast. Distances and line/leader length will be pre-determined.
There will be a small fee of RM30 per participant and it starts at 8am. There are prizes and tokens (hopefully cashable at Nick’s Tacklebox)to successful participants. I wish someone can sponsor a ticket to the Maldives for the best caster but until now it’s still a wishful thinking.
