Fly Fishing in Indonesia (Bali)

anyone familiar with fly fishing spots in bali? i’ll be going there for holiday soon… thought of bringing my fly rod along.

Bali mostly u can fly everywhere at the beach no point looking for stream bcoz the stream is very far away.. So the nearest place is the beach, bcoz bali is an island you’re surrounded by it.. But to fly in bali at the beach is very, very windy that why people come to bali for surfing rather then fishing.. So bring a strong rod with u, and prepare for a very strong wind..

well depending on season you can have calm weather(no wind) at the other side of the island. Bali Benoa is a good example; located behind the Ngurah Rai airport, the lagoon is huge. This is where they have their port etc simply because it’s sheltered. Lots of baitfishes and lots of people fishing and squidding.

Go to Karang Asem for Big GT if you dare too, i went there durin choppy wether but i’ve been told about nice calm weather where you can see GT biling and Tenggiri jumping like in Halmahera.

And lots of people fishing from shore with their poles in Bali; catching small small fishes.

There are also locals fishing in their streams (located in between their town heading east). They were wading in their river catching tilapia with their long poles; a bit like ‘ayu fishing’.

thank u very much for your info… at least i know what to prepare to bring there…i’ll try fly fishing for tilapia in the stream… planning to bring only a 3wt flyrod for leisure fishing. they use bali long poles, i bring mat salleh* fly pole…

*fly fishing originated by mat salleh ma…

Now bali is very, very windy.. if u want to fly here, better bring a wt7 or above bro… Very cold also…
