Hello redza..
Guess i can help here… Yes, you can get a new fly set with the budget of RM200/- Please look at rod and reel combo 2 on tacklebox forum.. There is a Combo set worth RM188 which include Legacy Rod,Fly Reel,Backing line, Floating fly line, Free Fly casting… But if you have enough patient and can save more money, i’ll recommend you to get a the better combo.. I think it’s a ross combo price around RM488 it comes complete with a rod, reel, backing Line, Floating Fly line but better quality la… But in Tacklebox they have 2 of this type 3/4wt & 5/6wt, i think the 5/6wt is a nice combo… Both of the combo is here on the Taklebox forum.. Have a look at it and decide which is within your budget.. Happy Shopping…

Bro binjai..
For RM400, better get the Ross Combo.. Price around RM488 complete.. I also bought this type of combo.. Very good but not many left in the shop… There are a cheaper combo selling at RM188 but don’t know is it still available or not.. For redington crosswater 5wt 4pc rod only already cost RM388 la, the reel about RM178 la.. Fly line, backing line have to buy somemore… Last time i saw redington crosswater 5wt 2pc is cheaper than the 4pc.. But now i think no stock already.. Hope that help…
Cheers,

Bro binjai..
Redington crosswater is the budget range for redington, got other redington also but a bit high on the price..
If you buy the ross combo, get the 5/6wt rod i think it is suitable for beginners.. It also come with free fly casting lesson.. I’m sure bro nick & bro joe would gladly to teach you how to fly..

Bro binjai…
Your hooked, that’s great! Anyway did you get the Ross combo? If you did then money well spend.. Soon there will be more poison coming when you try fly tying.. Do buy a vise and learn to tie various of fly (simple one first).. Much worth it then buying flies.. If you buying a vise do get the rotating one, price around RM200 but very good and worth the money.. With the rotating vise you can tie a lot of diffrent type of flies including the epoxy type..

razor… yup. the ross combo… nice setup hehe… if my missus wanna join, might need to get another set for her hehe… not at the moment lar, pocket deflated dy…
vice tying will follow suit later on lar… cant be doing many2 thing at one time, coz tua dy… need to take things at a slow pace one at a time… where do u get the ready tied flies eh? (if u’re buying ler…) was too excited with the combo that i didnt think of asking nick that time… only when on the way back, realized that hehe… well there’s another time for that im not worried. basic flies i shud have? thx
cheers

Bro binjai..
Wah! missus also want to join is it, then let her practice first.. When she already can cast, then you can get new combo or maybe a better rod with a matching reel and line for you la.. Then you can past her your ross combo, no point on buying 2 of the same combo.. When i bought my rod, i bought the vise and some material as well.. Bought some flies from Nick for sample.. Nick did teach me a few basic flies like Clouser, Crazy Charlie, Split Tail, Wooly Bugger and some simple Nymph and Dry fly.. Just need a bit practice and i’m sure you can tie one as well.. Think how much flies can you buy, and the cost of each fly is not that cheap also.. It is cheaper when you tie your own flies.. If you like this sport i do recommend you to get a vise..
