Giant Toman Fishing Record Attempt At BKKGUY

I’ve a few days on my fishing schedule, decided to head down to the fishing spot (450km drive from bkk) to try out yet another attempt for World Record Giant snakehead (toman) on lure.

The last trip here with my 11.5kg toman was not properly recorded. This time, I’ve equiped myself with boga grip from USA, a digital weighting scale (up to 40kg) and a measuring tape.

This particular secret spot that I’m heading to is consider that BEST TOMAN SPOT for heavy weight catch. Averg size range from 6-9kg. Landing toman of >10KG is consider common sighting there. My boatman said a 18KG toman had been hooked before , not long ago (a few months back)

Just last week, a fellow thai angler landed a 14KG on lure , broken the previous angler 13KG catch on lure . That in a span of 1 week interval. Just to add:

I’ve just joined IGFA as a new member. The biggest toman ever landed on lure recorded by IGFA is a 10KG toman by Christopher Tan from Malaysia. I hope one day , I can submit my own record catch to IGFA too.

With overfishing by fishermen, toman of size > 10KG is very … very hard to come by and not to mention landing those individual toman fishes which is much more stronger and ferious than those fry mama toman.

Note: This place is NOT suitable for new beginner. You must be expereince and savvy toman lurer before you can attempt this giant toman spot. Many rods and hooks broken before here. I’ve done several homeworks and diligent studies on my own before I attempt this so called ’ The Last Toman heaven Spot For >10KG '.

I may not success in my officially 1st attempt there but will not give up and definitely be back for more trips soon…

I 've set myself with 2 DAYS fishing there. I’ve 2 heavy takes & missed 2 big bites on my DAY 1.
Without giving up, I continued to fish on the DAY 2 , despite the strong winds which make spotting toman coming up to surface very difficult. On DAY 2 , I managed to land 2 monster toman on my rapala lures.

1st toman landed in mid day , properly weighted on my bog grip first then on my digital measuring scale : 7.80KG officially (after deducted the boga grip weight).

2nd toman landed at late evening : Tip scale at 7.24KG.(after deducted the boga grip weight).
That were also considered the’ averge size’ for the toman catches here.

Enjoys my big catch in DAY 2 …

The rest of the Catch report coming up later …together with live actions vid clips for the 2 DAYS fishing for your viewing pleasure.

Sorry for the short delay, here come the Catch Report…

DAY 1

Left bkk city at about 1.20 am wee morning.
As the toman destination is about 450km drive (3-4hrs ) drive from bkk, I’ll not risky missing the morning bites (before first light) for anything. Always better to be early than late.

For such an important fishing trip like this, you don’t want to risky anything.
Extra rods and tackles are always your best guarantee.

I bought along all my BC which include my Daiwa Ryoga 1016H , Daiwa Zillion 7.3 and my Shimano calcutta 100B. My first and best choice will still be my tough and strong Daiwa Ryoga 1016H

All itinerary checked and ready. Will be putting up at the said location to try to get enough rest in preparation for DAY 2 fishing.

Pumping up gas for the journey…

Expresso coffee to keep me stay awake during the long drive…

Finally arrived !!!
This is what I meant by ‘before first light’ scenery .

Over here, we won’t be looking for mama toman cuz there none for this period of time.
All will be individual toman size 5-20kg , all very strong and ferious.

Found this big live tilapia floating on the water surface.
Upon approaching, found it tail was eaten by toman.
By looking at the teeth mark, this must be the work of the big toman.
Fresh bloods still flowing out from its flesh..

DAY 2

Although I didn’t manage to land the toman on my first day but I roughly know what kind of speed for cranking and color those monster toman like to chase after. DAY 2 will be much good if not better for me.

I stayed overnight at the said location in one of the local budget hotel. After a heavy dinner, I went straight to bed. Need to rest early & more for tomorrow big day.

A new day a new beginning…

Beautiful sunrises as background for my Rapala lure…

In mid day, I landed this monsters 7.80KG toman using my newly bought rapala lure from Japan.
The fights was intense and strong as afterall these are individual toman fishes lurking in deep water.

I’m electrify …
