Guys,
We have all heard of the curative properties of the haruan. About how our wounds can heal faster after having Haruan soup. No doubt there has been no scientific proof of its wonders, would like to know what you have heard about it.
What I heard is that; good as it is, it can only be ingested a minimum of 1 week after surgery. This is to prevent scarring of the tissue around the wound, creating a bump of flesh that can never go away. According to an acquintance who looked at some x-rays, the fleshy bump is also inside the wound![:0]
im not sure.. but once i got cut at my finger… quite deep… would usually take 2 weeks to heal completely… but i went fishing for haruan.. and surprisingly the wound healed very fast… 4 days max… it could be due to the “lendir” of the haruan… just a hipothesis.. not hard evidence though…
I only fish on 3 days: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
I am well acquainted with one Prof Abdul Manan, formerly from UPM.
He spent 17 years researching the haruan.
He found 4 lipo-protein compounds, complex molecules containing amino and fatty acids that are responsible for wound healing.
Apparently, when absorbed into our system, the lipo-proteins react to broken human tissue and catalyse fibroblast (scar tissue) development.
He found out that the tissue healing process generated by the lipo-proteins works in the absence of the body’s healing process. That is why it is found to induce healing even in gangrenous situations experienced by diabetics and certain cancer patients.
However, rainbow runner has a point. The Prof found that the healing is excessive if too much haruan is ingested, leading to excessive scar tissue development.
He lacks to funds to conduct further research to fine tune the dosage and extract the lipo-proteins for pharmaceutical development.
He also found out that those lipo-proteins were discover only in wild haruans. In his sampling’s of farmed haruan, the compounds were lacking, sometimes absent.
And he said he also tested toman and bujuk. Toman’s healing qualities are erratic. Some samples got. Some don’t. Bujuk no such luck. In fact, bujuk is bad for asthmatic patients.
Many years back, I tried to team up with the Prof to run a project on pharmaceutical research of the lipo-proteins. Unfortunately, there was very little backing for biotech work those days.
Fearless…
i also heard like that…swallow live haruan fries…hehehhehe
but…the bigger haruan produce more protein yield..is that true???..or its become older and less protein yield
Hear that haruan fries fry with egg are good in taste with high protein, maybe a better choice than to swallow them alive. Let us not encourage these kind of consumption. Allow the fry to grow to meet you in another angling day.
Please leave the haruan mother alone when they are with their fries. Allot of haruan anglers are mother hunter. Don’t be one of them.
hmm…not all snakeheads got this healing power? i noticed that, whenever my snakeheads having a torn fins or scale loss,it will recover fast! but it need to eat before its heals.
Haruan not only having good healing effect for operational wound, it bring lucks as well. Many Chinese use Haruan Sashimi for “Lou San” during Chinese New Year to induce to have a better and prosperous new year.
