My good friend Hock, a Singaporean living Jakarta is an avid and gila flyfisherman, now this guy here is old school, tucked somewhere in his huge Patal Senayan mansion are lots old fishing stuff…when i say old , i mean stuff thats no longer in production…some dating back to early 70s. well, for a collector like me …his mansion is a treasure chest…and the best part is, he told me to take what i want…waaaah gila, but then i couldnt really, i knew how rare some of those stuffs are…i mean i malu mau ambil la, but i did in the end took some very old abu spoons…orginal swedish abus…in their old faded paper box.
well, Hock has an idea whats he is going to do once he retires, hes planning to open a bar , yup a bar for flyfishers, a place where one could over a drink trade fishing tales and lies.
sort like one of those country lodges in the midlands or ireland, walls will be full old fly equipments , photos, etc etc..
Ernest Hemingway is a travelling playboy and adventure,and a man with class, i guess the name fits as we all flyfishers are infact adventures, and we surely got class.
the point of this bar is get flyfisher together and share their experience, everyone has a story to tell…and all story good or bad will have some hidden lessons in it.
from my point of view, when flyfisher trade lies,innocent lies, it would only serve to bring us closer together. now before we could even come to that, we must first Leave Our Egos at the doorstep…none of it will step in…we talk, we talk as men..no sifu, no student , no mahaguru.
well im not gonna wait for that bar to open…we could do it here, right now.

there was this dude…and this was in january. ok this dude aint no Marlo Brando for sure, but he has cash flow as wide as a sewage paip.
now, this dude here just love fly fishing, he might as well could imagine himself casting beside lengends..Wulff, Austin, Falkus to name a few…but the problem is he cant cast for peanuts.
just like i said , this was january, i have yet to meet this joker, yet i have heard stories about him…thanks to ever present mother hens among anglers.
well the stories are not at all good…i was told by the ruling fly fisher not to go near this dude..for he might give me a bad reputation…heck as if i had any to begin with.
man , this boy is the type that everyone loves to hate…
anyway i meet him all the same…and i was wondering what was all fuss about him…haha..now this dude did some stupid stuff while he was learning to fly fish. the kinda stupid stuff you and me at any one time had done before.
the way i see, the majority of the flyfisher wants to be ID ed, belongs to a group, to be one of the boys…there is of course a couple of famous ones and the boys just love to have their pictures taken with them. its a way to say..hey..i made it.
now of course those famous ones being mortal do have weakness at times..if any one of the boys under their tumbs gets out of hand, well in most cases there should be some hidden private matters included, the poor sob is gonna get boycotted by the boys…coz the boss says so. now dont tell such s**t dosent happen in malaysia too.

he cant cast long …so he asked one of the attendant to pull the fly line across the pond, so he could retreive from there.
3)he went bottom fishing at sea…brought home a coleman load of small fishes
would barley the pond with 10 kgs of pellets.
and because of all this…the guy who first taught him to flyfish quickly disown him.
right …from my point of view, what he did was something most of us had done before. theres nothing sinister about it either.
all i could tell is..he became such because his teacher is not very good. whatever a student does reflexs on the teacher…
now if you want to take in students then you have to be responsiable for his actions…dont just jump ship the moment things got hot.
being enemies with your former students doesnt really clean away your deeds.
so i invited him to my pond…and ask him to show me what he got.
boy..the dude cant even roll cast, he needs to do 7, 8 fasle cast before he could get his line 20 meters out…boy,…“who did you said was your teacher again”??
