planning a trip to your part of the world late september or october this year, are there any casting competitions happening around that time?
not interested in competing myself but would like to watch you guys in action and catch up with a few friends.

Hi PT,
it great to have you here, unfortunately month of September we will be our fasting, if not mistaken it start on 13th of the month and ended some where mid October, then we will have our Hari Raya something similar to Christmas la, majority will be on holiday for a week or so. Overall for this 2 month we all will be having our rest time.
If you can come somewhere in November or December then it a different story la, as mention by LH, we can always arrange a Small tourney amony the Malaysian Surf Casters as for BIG Tourney not sure about this.

i won’t know for a little while yet when it will be but thanks for the info. if there was something on i would try my best to get there. but if not, maybe we can all get together for an informal weekends casting while i’m around your part of the world?
i won’t have any gear with me as i will be there on holiday but i would be happy to do a bit of coaching to try and help with your distances.

ok i will try to make it november if possible, things are still a bit up in the air at the moment with moving to another country and setting up a new business etc so a definate date is out of the question just yet…however i will be there at some point [:D]

Read most of your articles in TSF…a good article thats help a lot.Good luck with your adventure in Iceland and IFA project,hope that i’ll have the chance to fish there one day.The guys will be lucky to have somebody like you coming down from the end of the world to coach them…good luck and have fun in malaysia…
thanks rapalajoe glad the articles helped out. i’m really looking forward to visiting malaysia, my main holiday will be centered around bali but i hope to be there for around 1 month so plenty of time to explore.
it would be nice to see you over here, the fishing is totally mad! its been a bit windy and wet to fish the more exposed marks lately but, we’ve been exploring the harbours. plenty of whiting to around 1lb and haddock to 2.5lb, fishing a two hook flapper i went flat out for half an hour and had 37 fish out! definately couldn’t keep that sort of pace up for any length of time. we have also had a few more unusual fish in the form of long rough dab, there are some pics on the website.
off to explore and try to catch another species from the shore this weekend. either a common skate or a halibut. will be fishing into 75m of water so i suppose absolutely anything could turn up?
