Each day… if we could just put a side a RM10… one year, you will ‘store up’ RM3,650.. Cut down another 2 local trip… you put in another RM1000…
Just have to tell you self.. I wanna try my best to go Maldive… bring home my photo with fish.. and the sceneries.. when I’m are old… tell the story to my grandchild.. ever dream of that..?
Life is short.. what is the most important part of life…? to me.. it’s memories. be it good or bad.. it will always in your heart…
Things will change.. with the global warming.. half of Maldive will be sunken by another 10 years… plan a trip before it’s too late… oil price will never go down..unless we found another better and ‘alternative’ solution… last year cost me RM3800… may be this year might cost me more… just imagine, what would be next year… the earlier you go, the saving are better, unless you totally refuse to go.
Think positive… never say no before you give your best shot… ten years ago, I’m worries about cost of living.. ten years later, I will still worry the same things.. Have a positive mind, set our plan right, work on it… we will be able to reach a better level then…
only one comment from me…" if you stay quiet enough the fish will come to you"…believe or not.
you got one probably two changes of making a cast before the fish get spooked…let that cast be a perfect one.
well, if you are doing blind casting over long distance without seeing the fish…then i have no answer, nor will i ever understand why fishers would attempt long cast on fish thats out of reach, even if he did mangae to get there , you could imagine how the fly is gonna fall on the water…like a rock…and any fish thats still waiting around to find out whats going on would be indeed a very stupid fish.
i would suggest…presentation and accurate selective casting…this beats long cast any day…as you only need a couple good cast for the fish to take…no point hogging all day without knowing where the fish really is…nope sir…long casting doesnt guarantee sucess, it doesnt on occasion, but overall it would only serve to scare the fishes away.

Right on the nose, sir! This is also another (good) way of seeing it. And these are also the reasons I’m going there next year. I just wanna try it out once… at least. Before I die and go to err… hopefully, heaven. But as Sifu Andrew would say, “Maldives is a place where u cannot afford to go just once”… [:o)] [:I]
P/S: Still working on my bamboo banks (tabung buluh). Not bamboo rod, but bamboo bank… [:p] [:D]

Well said, sir.
I always entrusted ‘stealth’ rather than ‘distance’. But that is a problem for me as well. As u can see from photos of me in this column (posing with other people fish), I’m huge. So I usually cast my shadow before the fly. Hahaha… [:o)] [:I]
Or maybe you can share with us the best way to be ‘invinsible’ in such spooked waters…? [;)]
its easy just sit and be quiet, smoke them if you have one, just enjoy the scene…and really if the fishes doest come…then just consider you took a break from fishing.
as the fishes are not coming than just practise your casting …i mean people are so bend on catching fishes everytime they touches water, they forgot to practice…doing that on football field is totally different when you have water touching your fly line…try for once figure out abt how to be an all rounder caster…well you know la…some people must have space to cast…it doesnt really have to be that way.

It’s okay if other people gives you such recognition. As long as u don’t label it yourself… [;)]
For me u’re always a master - “Master Fly Tier”. Honest, coz we never had anyone tying realistic flies like you do or come up with fresh effective designs like yours. But the most important thing, you’re willing to share those hard-earned informations with others for free. That’s a true ‘master’ in my book. Thank you, sir… [;)]

Ari sir, Indonesians are lucky & proud to have you as their teacher / leader / mentor / master / sifu, I’m very sure. I simply love the way u think. Thank you very much for the inputs… [;)] [:)]

Ha Ha Ha No need to be serious serious one la Dron. Like Riki said, as long as we not label it ourself is OK. Sometimes we took it as a joke only, no big deal. I was called dry fly specialist, how funny was that?.
You open my fly box, all like tak siap punya. But you, truly master of realistic fly ha ha ha… serious one

Master Dron,
hope i can have the oppurtunity to test your #14-#16 The Ketutu Fly [:D] heard it’s a great fly from Master Yong [}:)][:D]
as for me, i’m still learning in this fly tying [^][:p]
back to the topic…
i think the cikgu need to explain to the newbie when is needed for distance cast and when you can apply the short cast don’t just say that “if you can’t do a distance cast then you can not go fishing”.
when i go fy fishing in a small stream, i just do a big roll cast or over head cast about 20 feet (include leader [^]) using 7’6" rod.. we must explain to the newbie for certain place and certain type of casting apply for the situation…
i myself not a cikgu or pro handal in fly fishing but it’s didn’t stop me to enjoy fly fishing all about…

Yes…definitely…in this case, distance casting IS important. Take it this way…Whatever distance you can cast here, half that when you go on the flats or for saltwater fly fishing.
If currently your backcast touching the ground, imagine what would happen if you’re half submerged in the water.
Thank you for the info.. Will improve on my backcast and also rod loading correctly.. Had the same problem when casting on the beach, with the unpredictable wind.. My fly flying everwhere..

usually there are fish far far away and there are fish nearby. sometimes when i have a bad cast day, i would just use my rod and jig around the edges of bedong or kakilai.
If you try jigging around the blue floating tongs around kakilai with a charlie or classic deceiver, you might just as I have, twice, been rewarded with a GT! … and I didn’t even have to cast
certainly being able to cast all your line out is always an advantage as one would be able to look for fish in a bigger area but even if one can’t cast that far, do not be discouraged as there are plenty of fish nearby.
as someone mentioned earlier, at kakliai, the fish are hiding deep in the middle of the pond during the midday sun till about 3 or 4 pm. i cant cast that distance and even if i could cast all my line out, i still wouldnt be able to reach the fish, so what do i do ? change to a spinning outfit lar and cast a spoon to the middle of the pond. BUT… if you are willing to apply your mind to catching fish, then you could do as I do, just look for shaded spots as the fish would be hiding from the scorching sun under floating objects or jetties etc.
