First, I need to confess that this report will not be as lengthy as Kurauking’s post (or Saga). And, now the report:
Calvin has asked (no, demand) me to take him offshore fishing as he was tired of the trout. Being a good dad that I am, I took him on the King Neptune partyboat at Jacksonville. As you can see, NOAA was just a little bit off on their forecast, calling for 2-3’ sea.

We ran about hour and half to out first drop, so I figure we’re probably about 12-14 miles. And the snapper were waiting for us. I pulled in a 25’’ on my first drop and Calvin, not to be out done, pull in a nice keeper as well.

I caught one more keeper and Mark in the stern hook up with a big shark (easily 8-10’) which took him for a walk around the boat.

The shark pretty much killed the snapper bite on that spot. We moved further offshore, I am guessing to around 20 - 25 miles based on how long we ran, and found the beeliners and seabass. Here’s Calvin with a greenhead.

The end results:

Other customers got into the action as well:

I put one more keeper snapper in the box and almost before we leave, I pulled this guy in, which took a live cigar minnow (kembonng?).

On the way in: did I say it was a nice day

This was what Calvin and I ended up

another shot of the fish in the cooler

We ended up with 2 seabass, a lane snapper, 13 beeliners, a limit of 4 snapper (22’-25’) and a 33’’ grouper (guessing about 15lb or 7 kg). The grouper ended up winning the big fish jackpot, which was enough to pay for the boat ticket and tips.
Round trip on the road (I which its not this dang far):
