i had gone to the Venus Art coincidentally…it not easy to spot this shop but the items there consider cheap for me…
i got myself a jelutong wood which length about 1" x 59" only for RM3. i guess i shud start my project soon…
Mutu takde tak apa… asal ada gaya cukup… ikan takde tak apa… janji ada member dapat…mesti pinjam untuk cam-whoring later
You mean an associate, a friend would have given you that little scrap of wood.
Whether it is a good price depends on a lot of things. If you are only going to build 8 small lures and don’t have space to store timber for the future, then considering the cost saving of a few phone calls, a trip in the car to find a lumber yard and the time taken, then it is a good price. If you plan on building a hundred lures over the next year, then I am sure you could find a much cheaper source.
If you are going to hand carve some finer details, Lapala style on your lures, then jelutong is a good choice. But if you are not carving details, then there are much cheaper alternatives. I use albesia, because it is very light and still strong enough to take the punishment (proven by 20Kg pull tests). I like the livlier action of a light weight wood.
I pay RM25 for 11.5cm x 5.5cm x 4 metres in Indonesia. OK things are cheaper here, but I am sure you get my point.

tq..vodkaman…
actually a friend of mine just chopped down a jelotung tree…he asked me if he can sell it at that price…
Ah, now I understand your inquiry, it makes a lot more sense now. I appologise to your friend for implying that he was a bit mean, LOL.
Their is more to selling timber than just chopping a tree down and cutting it up into pieces to sell. The timber needs to be dried out properly. Do some google searches for more information on this. As for pricing, you will have to do more detailed local searches for this. To get a feel for the prices, contact lumber yards and hobby shops, these are the two extremes of pricing. Your price needs to be inbetween these two.

Hello bro,
Know that you have somehow made lures out of polycarbonate and have managed to get fish as well. Post your pics here lah! Better still if you would post the tutorial.
