Jerky Drag

Hi,
My Shimano spinning reel is having jerky drag . Tried cleaning the washers and metal plate with zippo fluid .
After it dried , I reassembled everything but it only improved a little.
My question is, is there any lubricant or oil to apply to the drags to make it smoother?

Thanks

In my personal experience, zippo fluid, thinner, naphta, all leave residue after they dry. I’m using highly concentrated alcohol or industrial grade acetone.

You can use any high grade grease or purposely made grease like shimano ace-2 or cal’s drag grease. Please remember that applying grease will reduce your maximum drag pressure.

On simple drag systems which use a normal carbon based washer, you can try candle wax. I rub a little candle wax on my tica cetus and the drag becomes very very smooth! But you will have to do it off and on as you use the reel.
