KAGUM Mini National River Clean Up 7th June 09

Hey BM Forummers, as many of you all know that KAGUM has been actively saving our precious river and constantly doing River Clean Up (RCU) every month on selected rivers.

We have organized the Mini National River Clean Up on the 7th June 09 and wish to have MFN-ers to participate in this good cause. So far, there is a few company that are joining us for this and I hope MFN could cover one of the rivers as explained below.

Update on the Mini National:

We have 6 venues lined up so far:

  • Penang (LKG/PMPP), lead= Lannun
  • Sg Lembing (PAW), lead=Oakinn
  • Sg Tua, above Batu Dam
  • Sg Pinang (between ulu Yam and Gohtong Jaya): KakiPancing.Net (KPN)
  • Ulu Langat at Kpg Manggis
  • Sg Tekala, Semenyih

Petronas and TNB departments will be joining us at the KL/Selangor venues.

We are trying to get sponsors for food, T shirts and caps, for the event. Star will cover the event, and hopefully Berita Harian too. This will certainly hike up the awareness of the public on river conservation.

The Mal Surfcasting Club guys are considering doing a beach cleanup at the same time, but they have not confirmed yet.

KAGUM will sent reps for each site, and conduct a short briefing before the cleanup proper. We will also set up buntings (so people can easily locate the sites, and the sponsored items.

Say, it would be great if MFN can select a river venue for RCU on the day! It’s very easy to organise. I have already set up a simple River Clean Up Manual on PPoint format. What say you?

Some possible venues:

  • Sg Bil, near Tanjung Malim/Slim River
  • Ulu Bendul (Sban-KPilah road)
  • Sg Lintang (beside Karak Hiway)
  • Sg Gabai, Ulu Langat
  • Sg Kancing, Templer Park

The last two venues are tricky for children, cos the anks are rather steep. If you chose one of the first two, then we’ll cover other states like Perak and NS, so more impressive as a “National” event lah!

So what say you? The KPN forum group oredi have theirs. The last time they did RCU, 50 people turned up!

Below are confirmed rivers that we will be doing Mini RCU and KAGUM representative will be taking charge on each river.

  • Penang/Balik Pulau

So, for those of you who are interested, you can pick any of these venues. Just contact the relevant reps or host. Most are MFN forumers anyway! WE will post the directions to the venues later.

I’m arranging for articles on river conservation to appear in Star, starting say three weeks before the big date. And I hear Joran/Berita Harian is interested to cover the event too. Waiting for their call.

Update from Kakipancing.Net

I’ll be having my own KPN Moderator meeting tonight to discuss on the River Cleaning program.
And most probably, staffs for TM will be joining us at Sungai Batang Pinang. InsyaAllah!

My opinion…ada baiknya program ini dijalankan mengikut negeri dan negeri itu pulak dipecahkan kepada beberapa kawasan supaya memudahkan peserta yang tinggal berhampiran kawasan tersebut untuk sama2 meringankan tulang mencantikkan sungai kawasan mereka…

Ini disebabkan tak semua dari kita mampu untuk travel jauh2 memandangkan pelbagai kos perlu dikeluarkan seperti kos petrol, makanan, tempat tinggal dan lain2..

Walaupun tujuannya baik, tetapi perlu difikirkan perkara2 yang mungkin remeh bagi mereka yang berduit tetapi amat penting bagi mereka yang hanya mampu menyara keluarga, dan untuk mengatur satu2 trip pun terpaksa berjimat cermat semata2 nak merasai nikmat memancing.

Emmm…memang patut kita buat macam tu…
Lagi Banyak tempat yang boleh kita buat lagi banyak sungai boleh kita bersihkan…
Amacam kengkawan semua…
Boleh la kita gerakkan program ini ke merata tempat!!!
Kita boleh buat sebenarnya tanpa mengira tempat sebab amalam ini adalah amalan yang mulia…
Sambil kutip sampah kita boleh tunjukkan tauladan yang baik kepada masyarakat sekeliling…
Dengan ini juga kita boleh mengeratkan lagi persahabatan sesama kita…

Bang BS, terima kasih banyak2 krn setuju jadik leader dalam xtviti RCU nih…soree la BM saya nih, makin hari makin teruk..aishh…maaf yer bang2 sekalian, kalau saya berbahas dalam bahasa om putih yer…hikhik hik

1st of all thank you so much bang Bujang Selamber for leading the BM forum to make our Mini National RCU a success !.Let me clear the air, this is indeed a voluntary act and there is no obligations if you cant make it.

Let me roughly proposed how our Mini RCU will turn up. So far as the list above we have Petronas n TNB gang covering 2 rivers and we are left with Sg Tekala (which is myself taking charge of teh river) and Im leading the Petronas host on the 7th June. Well there is another river which is not taken up yet, that is Sg tua (near batu dam) I proposed that MFN can cover that river and if not we can always exchange sites (Petronas to Sg tua and MFN to Sg Tekala) We can still ammend changes and nothing is confirm to Petronas, this is just the 1st stage of planning.

So far, ive received email from bang Dejagothic that is interested to lead the KAT gang to cover Sg.Tekala. So i estimate it be around 10-20 of them to be there. Best if MFN can join in too ! It be a great MFN outing at the same time to meet each other and shake ones hand, that all this while we know each other through net only.

Poaka Ulong has mentioned a very good point there ! Well i suggest car-pooling with other MFN buddies if youre coming alone (without family) and at the same time make this a great family outing too. As bang BS mentioned earlier that, it be a good stepping stone for the young kids to learn about ethical stuff like this RCU !!

So don worry so much about it, those who are free and willing to join us. Come along. Check out our last RCU at Sg Ulu Langat (near Pangsun) Bang torex n wife joined us too !! It was filled with excitement..

Saya cuma bantu hangatkan suasana dan kalau boleh untuk River Cleaning nie kita bersatu dibawah nama MFN untuk kita jayakan program ini…Yang berlaku didalam forum ini biar kita habiskan kat sini sahaja dan dengan program yang sebegini kita boleh berkenal kenalan dan juga dapat menambah sahabat handai… Tak salah kalau nak bawak Family sekali dan kalau boleh kita bergabung tenaga dari segala segi…Tak semestinya kita kutip sampah, banyak benda sampingan kita boleh buat seperti makan2(Port Luck), mandi manda dan sessi suai kenal…Mungkin ada juga yang nak sponsor(anything such as Hand Gloves, Food etc) demi menjayakan program ini…
So apa kata kengkawan semua…KAT dah Cover Sg Tekala…
Cadangan saya kita Cover Ulu Yam…Any suggestion…?

Petronas GAS & KAT cover sg tekala, gang gang MFN pun boleh join gak..no problem.So far cuma sg tua belum ader response lagi. Kalau nak MFN boleh cover Sg Tua…yer..harap2 gang MFN boleh join gak..
