So many posts by KK about P.Klang pood. ini tak bolih jadi … no no no … ![]()
Over CNY holidays had the pleasure of traveling from KL to Grik (Temenggor lake to be exact). stayed over one night at a resort there. Fishing ? Not really .. did bring the rods but more interested in the sights, sound and food naturally.
Here are some selection.
Rafflesia Arnoldii. Had to trek about 20 minutes into the jungle and up a steep slope.

Rafflesia Bud

Restaurant Sun Kong at Kampung Baru Ayer Kala. Must try !
Direction : From Lenggong heading towards Grik. Just 1 km after Selat pagar R&R.

Its specialty : Sai Tou fish ball. Goodness gracious… you guys dont know what you are missing. The fish ball seems to be flavoured with some dry orange/mandarin peel. Some have it just plain steamed… and my god it tastes so goood . Another one is its belly cooked together with some fermented soya beans … [:p][:p]

Another one is their steamed fish. We had tengellan fish though you can get Seberaus, etc. Extremely sweet.

Another must try is at Kampar. Restaurant Kam Ling.

One of their “specialties” is the curry chicken bread. Its a big portion for around 8 persons.
The bread is baked fresh with curry chicken wrapped in it. The curry is light and easy.
Right in front of the shop is a char siew pau seller. very famous and visitors buy by the dozens, unsteamed to ta pau home.

Few other places to take note off. If you happen to be at Grik and you need to buy some fish, then there is a shop by the name of Ng trading. Sells jungle herbs, Honey collected from bee hives nestled on Tualang trees !, Shop is closed most of the time so call (number is at the front of the shop) and he will pop over. I’ve seen freezer loads of fishes. To give you an idea… sebaraus sells at RM 35 kg here, by the time it hits KL , restaurants are selling it at around RM 80… dont shoot the messenger .. I just report.. and no i didn’t purchase any.

Told myself , cant wait for another CNY to go pigging out at Bidor, kampar, Ipoh and Grik again. Oink oink !!
