Kayak fishing at Tasik Prima… Thanks to a friend’s invitation.
There were a lot of these orange ‘hybrid’ cichlids (look like flowerhorn + midas cichlid)… They were quite fun to play with, considering we were using light tackle. They attacked our lures in schools of up to 10! First time kena one on popper though…
Only managed to land 3 tomans. All pretty small, all just below a kilo. Here’s the first…
Here’s the last one we landed…
There were a few smaller peacock bass, but we didn’t manage to land them. Lost a larger peacock bass, and failed to set the hook on tomans a few times too.
Despite the good weather, the tomans weren’t that active. Not much surface action throughout the morning while we were on the lake. Still, not the worst day of fishing.
All fish safely released n given our blessing to grow quick! And avoid nets.

Bro,this is the red monk cichlid.A bigger version of the parrot fish.Anyway congratulations on your catches.

nice catch bro nyamaoan…I am there this morning…manage to land a small toman…fish are quite frenzy today…but too bad people playing jetski…went there about 8 plus in the morning…

ya. that’s the place. susah without boat or kayak.
bout 2 weeks ago, went again on boat… in search for mama or papa tomans… but din see or catch any. the parents probably not around anymore la.
caught many specimens about 1kg range again, all released.
when these juveniles having breakfast frenzy, it’s really a lot of fun la if u’re out on the water, among them.
Looks like a nice fishing spot. I li ve in Kulim Kedah, but do not mind to drive my car and bring my kayak there for a good day of fishing, if someone invites me la…
