kesimpulan: other than zamri, zul… all the other boatman are puk!maks especially the old huger on Lan’s boat…worst of the worst of the worst

Just came back from last try pancing itu trout tapi no luck. Got some local info regarding location. Sewa a bicsikal..TL30.00 for 2 hours to get to the location mentioned but locals were there botom fishing 2 persons pasang 12 rods…so no hope to fish la…waited for about 30 minutes for them to strike any fish but zilch. Decided to carry on my bycikaeling,teruk up bukit turun bukit..this Abant lake is 1+++ above see level. On the way..kena kejag anjing plak nasib baik dia tak serious kalu tak mampuis…itu anjing macam itu anjing yang tolong orang kambuis dalam snow tu tu..apa nama?? Sampai satu location…open water good casting space but no good fish. Hujan renyai renyai, sejuk kat 15C. So cabut la balik..another 30 minute cycling..turun bukit syiok, naik bukit kena tolak la…sampai bilik sakit jubok…heheheh. So no fish and luck…putus satu fly.
Tak caya buatnya..depa ni, dok merendek pakai jubah tudong tapi berkucupan in public nanti wa pos gambag..tapi from distance takut ambik gambag dekat2 kena haria humban dalam tasik plak…heheheh

My botman not bad also lah first 2 days. Experience ada lah jugak when he know how to chase sailfish, hook my bait, strike the fish. Just 3rd day tido lebih coz he said pi hospital at nite or whatever reason known to himself. Zambri ada cakap that my botman know the sotong place but he hesitate to go coz takut canot meet up with zamri or choo botman. Tatau lah. And 1st day we balik awal coz he say air cetek bot kenot masuk. From observation of water level at the kuala, the 3rd day water level is even lower at 5pm. Masuk jugak bot. Overall, boleh lar compare to other bot and other botman. Minum pun kuat jugak. Can smell alcohol when talking to him. I sit behind his driver seat most of the time, boleh smell it also.

tips should only be given if they perform, not that they deserve it. hell, we paid for their services.
from now onwards, tipping is my choice, pls don’t force me to tip if i dun feel like tipping. no group tipping for me pls. have to take consideration into other’s feelings as well.
not everyone sit in office with 5 digit pay. some have to work extra hard, work extra shift, work extra everything just to make this trip a success. some had to sell their tackle stuff. some just lost their job or in their midst of changing jobs. some sacrificed family time and work commitments just for the sake of camaraderie and friendship.
from what i hear (since its my 1st trip anyway), everytime same thing happen. bukan boatman KNN kalu, boat got problem. can u believe a boat that has no GPS, no walkie, no anchor? and boatman no handphone? WTF? stranded boat have to drift to sinkapok?
we come from far just to fish, 1600km+ round trip. and its not like a last minute thing. it was planned since beginning of the year. so with that in mind, at least the charter should get their boats in tip-top condition, and get their boatmen in the spirit. if they think that we’ll pay no matter what, then its wrong mentality. waiting for tips then only perform, is totally wrong.
see their faces already potong steam. next time mintak refund. customer always right, right? [:D]
the difference of prices between rompin & merchong is due to the boat service. u pay for what u get. pay peanuts, get monkeys. pay bananas, get elephants. so if anyone wants to be treated like a superstar, the go rompin, and pay superstar prices. or if u think u can handle merchung then continue la.
i find it unfair that there were some of us who got sidelined. i also understand they do not intend to bring it up due to many reasons.i thought everyone paid the same amount, and should receive the same treatment. i was lucky i was not on the receiving end thanks to my hardworking teammates, but yet i cant help but to feel sad/disapointed/angry for some of my friends like takin’s team and syed alwi’s team. my boatman was totally not communicating with us.
i think merchung should buck up. and we should voice out. if they choose to squander then i’ve nothing to say but to look for greener pastures.
at least that will make 4 days and 3 nights and 800kms to and fro more enjoyable
this is business, not charity or Merchung Old Folks Home.
i think i will email zarina and let her know, but i think she already does.

that being said, im not pouring cold water on anyone. in fact, i thank everyone for the support to make this a success. organising on this big a scale is an achievement in my books, and the Lan deserves a pat on his back for a job well done.
there were no winners or losers this time round. just idiotic boatmen with f*cked up attitude with idiotic boats.

Honestly, I totally agree wif FT on the level of service in Merchung.
Have been going there since 2004 and nothing has improved after numerous feed back. My main complaint is da boatmen and their indifferrent attitude. To them it is just a routine job dat they need to carry out.There is not empathy in most of them hence the sh1t service we get.At the back of their minds is ‘No work No pay’ la I suppose.
Tips are the prerogative of the customers entirely. Hopefully they can open up their eyes and ask themselves…why wasnt I tipped today? but can they? I tink their answer to dat question is…ini customer manyak kudukut. The blame most probably will fall back on the customers. I really wish all of them could see things in a differrent perspective…the customers perspective.Without customers…they wont have a job.
Last year I had a South African group asking me about boat services in the area and I refered them to Uncle Thomas. I managed to get them a boat from Rompin at very short notice and those guys were happy and they came back 2 weeks later for a 2nd trip. I did not dare refer them to Merchung for obvious reasons.
Having said all dat I will still keep going for this yearly pilgrimage…it is the Sails dat attract me [:)]

Normally my tipping style is when the charges is RM245 and I gave RM250…and he got no exact change, then only give tips. Other than that, they should have it covered in their rental package. Money is not easy to make and sometimes we only tip when one can afford to give out of happiness and joyness for the assistance or good service they had obtain from the servicemen. Not all boatman should be given tips as this will set precendence to others when they rent the boat.
