hey guys im looking to purchase my first baitcasting reel and i need some advice… i want to get a decent reel and not something that i am gonna want to upgrade after like 2-3 months… my budget is RM500 max… can all the sifu’s and otai’s recommend the best reel i can get for that price?.. all advice will be greatly appreciated… oh yea application wise… would be for freshwater mostly for haruan, peacock bass, toman etc… maybe a little saltwater/inshore usage once in a blue moon…

if lp, revos are very reasonably priced, considering the reliable performance it offers.
sx or stx is around that price range.
if up a bit, the scorpion xt is not bad at all.
but if u go up almost rm200, that’s taking some budget out of a rod perhaps.
u got a rod already or also looking for one? imo, purchase of the rod n reel should be thought of together.
Scorpion XT best choice out there. No need to upgrade for the next few years too if you take care of it.
Otherwise if really off budget, the latest revo series should be a good bet.
Still save a while more and then get the XT la . In the mean time so many people can pinjam you and poison you more with their gears. You could end up “saving” all the way haha

TJS and Justin… wow very strong advice in favour of getting the scorpion… i suppose i should wait and get it la then… but the urge to buy is so strong!!.. lol…
then get a rod first… try not to over strain ur budget… but then again if u got a great reel with a lousy rod also cannot mah…
so let see… hmmm… perhaps u should wait longer for abu to release their other cheap and cheerful line up… u prefer 2 pcs or 1 pcs?

that’s what i always do.
allows u to see more products before choosing. n also gets u the best deal once u decide on a product.
all these if u have the time of course. hehe.
