dear friends..i was wondering does fish can differentiate colour..some experts says fish is color blind so using different colors of lures does make a difference in general…please give your thoughts on this[:D]
There are many different view points on this (as with all things fishing).
Colour blind or not, using lures in different colours in different environment (weather, water clarity, depth etc) would help emphasize silhouette, and that is a bonus point for increasing chances for hookup.
While fishing with some very experienced guides in Australia and New Zealand - noticed that they keep only a small spread of colors within easy reach, and then concentrate more on the presentation of the lures that they are using.
If we go by what they are doing, then the many other thousands of colors / combinations in the shops, probably catch more fishos than fish ?
Also, have a look at the varieties like buzzbaits, propellers, spinners, etc. etc. etc. While it is logical that we try to present a lure that looks like the " real thing ", how come I am catching fish with things that look nothing like what they normally eat ?
Sometimes it is not only our wallets that I worry about - spare a thought also for the poor shop owners as well - how many of the lures on their walls actually sell ? They probably fall into the same trap like us ?
i readily admit to being hooked by lures before my lures hook fish [:p][B)][xx(][:D]
do all shops or only certain dealers/vendors take stock on consignment?
if they were to buy 'em outright or even over 3-6 months terms, they’d eventually suffer as Mike sez
however, given the many different items, turnover from certain faster moving stuff could be used to cover the slower ones, i guess … jes’ a shot in the dark … no idea how it actually works
if fish (all or certain) are colour blind, how do sebarau go for toman fry? and how do toman go for sebarau young? or has their silhouette/body markings (irrespective of colour) been hardwired into their respective brains? just curious …
